In Robe, Ethiopia, an energetic young girl named Mekdes relied on her grandmother Aynalem for everything. Aynalem was losing hope that she could continue to support her granddaughter alone. Then, generous donors like you came alongside Aynalem and Mekdes.

Now, Mekdes can walk, eat, and write on her own. She is learning and growing alongside her friends. Aynalem is also part of a self-help group that has helped her grow her businesses. She is often seen smiling and saying, “God is good.”

Our Karis global partners know what will be most impactful for their communities. It's our honour to come alongside them to help make those changes. Together, we helped remove a barrier for the 800 people who travel on this road each day.

In El Morro, Guatemala, mountainous terrain makes it difficult to get around. For a long time, there wasn’t a paved road, and people with mobility challenges suffered the most. Through a partnership between Karis, the village of El Morrow, and the Guatemalan government, the whole community proudly came together to build a road. This enables safe travel and improved community access for generations to come! Because of this road, children with disabilities can now easily travel to the local accessible school where they can be with their peers.
