Meet your 2026 Municipal Councillor By-Election Candidates!

Polls will open on Thursday, October 15, 2026 from 8am - 8pm at the Morgan Chaddock Community Hall, located at the Watson Lake Recreation Centre.

Eligible voters who are unable to make it to the polls on election day may also vote by way of Special Ballot or by Mobile Poll. Please contact Returning Officer, Jenny Skelton to make voting arrangements.

REQUEST FOR TENDER - RFT 2026-011
Wye Lake Trail and Sign Post Forest Trail Improvements

The Town of Watson Lake invites interested Contractors to submit a tender for the supply of labour, equipment, and materials necessary to complete trail improvements for the Sign Post Forest Trail and Wye Lake Trail.

The work includes site preparation, clearing and grubbing, rip rap shoreline protection, compacted granular pathways, timber boardwalk installation, and site furnishings.

Substantial Completion: October 15, 2027
Bid Deadline: 2:00 PM Yukon Time, Thursday, October 29, 2026

PUBLIC NOTICE: FACILITY CLOSURE
Please be advised that all Town of Watson Lake facilities, except the Northern Lights Centre, will be closed on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
All Town facilities will resume regular hours on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
Curbside garbage collection postponed during the closure will also resume on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

Mayor and Council are honoured to proclaim September 30 as the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation in the Town of Watson Lake.

This day serves as an important reminder of the lasting impacts of Canada's residential school system and provides an opportunity to honour the children who never returned home, as well as residential school survivors, intergenerational survivors, their families, and communities.

We encourage residents to take time to reflect, learn, and participate in meaningful acts of recognition and support, and to consider the role each of us can play in advancing reconciliation.
