WEATHER ALERT - ORANGE LEVEL
Southern Ontario and the Golden Horseshoe Area (including Welland) are under an ORANGE level weather alert for severe thunderstorms that are tracking towards our area.
The main line of thunderstorms is expected to move through the region between 2:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., with the highest risk period from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Primary threats include:
-High winds up to 130 km/h
-Heavy downpours
-Large hail
-Frequent lightning
--Downed trees
-Damage to weakened structures/buildings
-Power outages
Significant rainfall is expected, creating the potential for flash flooding and water pooling in low-lying areas and on roadways.
There is also high confidence in tornado development, although the greatest risk is currently expected in the Grand Bend, London, and Kitchener areas.
