A quick heads up for our Welland community!

Our Welland Shelter will be closed Sunday, September 6th. Please keep this closure in mind if you were planning to stop by or visit our adoptable animals.

Declan’s priorities: pets, treats, playtime and getting in the water whenever humanly possible.

He’s an affectionate, energetic guy who loves being part of the action. He listens well, responds to his cues, takes treats gently and seems to enjoy the company of other dogs.

He can come out of his kennel ready to GO, so he’s continuing to work on his leash manners. He can also be protective of his toys and will need a home that can manage them appropriately.

Cara needs somewhere safe to welcome her babies.

This sweet mom-to-be is under a year old, pregnant, and urgently needs a foster home where she can have a quiet, dedicated space to give birth and care for her kittens.

We’re ideally looking for someone with some fostering or kitten experience who knows what to watch for during birth and can recognize if Cara needs help or if her kittens require a little extra support once they arrive.

Cara will need to be picked up from our Port Colborne shelter, but any medical needs can be supported through our Welland or Niagara Falls locations.

If you have the space and experience to give Cara and her babies a safe place to land, please reach out to us as soon as possible to foster.

A summer full of second chances. 💙🐾

From Port Colborne to Welland to Niagara Falls, so many animals found their way from our shelters into loving homes this summer.

Every face in this post represents a new beginning, and we couldn’t have done it without the adopters who chose to make room for a shelter animal in their lives.

Thank you to everyone who adopted, shared our posts, visited our shelters and helped these animals find their people.

Two years is far too long to wait for a home.

Raiden has been at our Welland Shelter since January 2024. For more than two years, this sweet boy has watched other cats come and go while he continues waiting for someone to choose him.

At 3 years old, Raiden has spent a huge part of his life in the shelter. He’s currently hanging out in our Community Cat Room, where he’s hoping the right person will finally walk through the door and see what they’ve been missing.

After two years of waiting, we’d love nothing more than to see Raiden leave the shelter for the last time, with his forever family.

A giant thank you to the Delta Welland Bingo Association for your tremendous support of our animals and community!

Since 2014, an incredible $349,796 has been donated through charitable gaming to help fuel our work and provide care for the animals who rely on us.

As part of Provincial Bingo Week and International Bingo Day, the Delta Welland Bingo Association presented the Niagara SPCA & Humane Society with a cheque recognizing the funds our organization has received through charitable gaming from 2014 through May 2026.

Thank you to the Delta Welland Bingo Association, OLG, and everyone who plays bingo. Your support is making a real difference in the lives of animals in our community.

Playtime, belly rubs and a splash in the water, Monty is here for all of it.

Monty is a sweet young guy with a playful personality and so much love to give. He adores spending time with people, gets along well with other dogs and is always happy when water is involved.

He might start his walks with a little extra enthusiasm and pull on the leash, but once he gets going, he settles right into the adventure.

Whether it’s playing, exploring or rolling over for a belly rub, Monty is ready to enjoy it all with a family of his own.

The Misty City meet & greet lineup is looking pretty cute. 🤠🐾

These are just some of the adoptable dogs you can meet at our Misty City Music Festival Adoption Event on Saturday, September 12 at our Niagara Falls Shelter!

Along with adoptable cats and dogs, enjoy live acoustic music throughout the afternoon, giveaways and reduced adoption fees, all made possible with the generous support of Misty City Music Festival, University of Niagara Falls Canada and Hot Country radio station.

One year with Dr. Raj - and quite the milestone to celebrate. 🐾

Dr. Raj, Veterinarian & Director of Community Outreach & Wellness Clinic, leads our efforts to make quality preventative veterinary care more accessible across the Niagara Region. In addition to leading the veterinary care for our animals at our 4 shelters.

Dr. Raj recently attended the 16th International Congress of Parasitology, a global conference that brought together veterinary professionals and researchers from around the world, giving Dr. Raj the opportunity to share an interesting case from our own shelter and contribute to broader conversations in veterinary medicine and parasitology.

As we celebrate his first anniversary with Niagara SPCA & Humane Society, we’re incredibly proud to recognize both this achievement and the knowledge, compassion and dedication he brings to our shelter and Wellness Clinic every day.

Congratulations on one year, Dr. Raj — and on an incredible accomplishment! 💙🐾
