The Public Safety Trailer has been temporarily deployed at Cypress Mountain Resort to support public safety during the Red Bull Hardline event.

This mobile monitoring unit is deployed during community events and celebrations to bolster safety, deter criminal activity and, if necessary, provide video evidence to assist in criminal investigations.

The PST enhances community safety, reduces crime, and helps keep a wonderful place to live, work, and play.

Happy Thanksgiving from the West Vancouver Police Department!

Our officers have been spending the long weekend patrolling the beaches and parks, connecting with members of the public, and checking in with local business owners. Proactive traffic enforcement and roadblocks have taken impaired drivers off the street, and a focus on stop sign compliance by motorists and cyclists in the Ambleside area yielded some positive feedback from passersby.

That’s why we helped launch Car 22, a partnership that pairs a police officer with a healthcare professional for mental health-related calls. This provides members of the public with immediate, specialized assistance and facilitates a vital link to ongoing support.

Thanksgiving Monday is just around the corner!

Are you planning to visit us in person? Come in today or tomorrow, as the WVPD front counter will be closed on Monday, Oct 12th, re-opening on Tuesday, October 13th, at 9 am.

As always, you can go to westvanpolice.ca/make-the-right-call for guidance on connecting with the services you need. Online police reports and applications for Police Information Checks can also be submitted on the website.

9-1-1 and the non-emergency number, 604-925-7300, will operate as normal.

The West Vancouver Police Department appreciates the cooperation we’ve received from drivers in our efforts to promote and enforce public safety on West Vancouver roads and highways.

But it just takes one quick glance at the comment section on social media posts to see how stubborn some of the myths about speeding tickets still are! So we thought we’d clear up some of the misinformation surrounding speeding ticket fines and clarify that when West Vancouver Police utilize enforcement strategies, we do so with public safety in mind.

The Public Safety Trailer will be temporarily deployed at on the corner of Cypress Bowl Road and Chippendale Road, starting on September 25th, 2026 as a result of significant complaints regarding danger driving and high speeds.

This mobile monitoring unit supports public safety during community events and can be temporarily deployed at other strategic locations to deter criminal activity or, when necessary, provide video evidence to assist in criminal investigations. The PST enhances community safety, reduces crime, and helps keep a wonderful place to live, work, and play.

West Vancouver Police stress the need for drivers to obey speed limits in construction zones.

The Upper Levels section of Trans Canada Hwy 1 is a high-traffic, key corridor. When road upgrades become necessary, crews do what they can to minimize disruptions – and oftentimes, that means the night shift.

Despite clear signage indicating reduced speed limits, too many drivers are not getting the message. During a single night shift, one West Vancouver Police officer stopped four vehicles for excessive speed resulting in 3 vehicle impounds, one vehicle towed for operating without insurance, one Immediate Roadside Prohibition issued due to driver impairment, and multiple violation tickets.

With night-time construction work continuing through October, West Vancouver Police are asking drivers to slow down to the posted speed limit, be mindful of slow-moving construction vehicles, and prioritize the safety of roadside crews.
