News: Record-setting $800M FNFA Bond Drives Community Investment Past $5B

“Investors want to be part of Indigenous economic growth, and First Nations want financing partners who understand their priorities,” said Ernie Daniels, President and CEO, FNFA. “This issuance shows both sides are aligned and moving Canada forward.”

FNFA has issued its largest debenture to date, raising $800 million for First Nation governments to accelerate community-driven economic and social development across Canada. The financing supports high-impact projects including new housing, and essential infrastructure, and land and business acquisitions driving FNFA’s total investment in member communities past $5 billion.

Nouvelle : une émission record de 800 millions de dollars de l’AFPN porte les investissements communautaires à plus de 5 milliards de dollars

« Les investisseurs veulent participer à la croissance économique des Autochtones, et les Premières Nations recherchent des partenaires financiers qui comprennent leurs priorités », a déclaré Ernie Daniels, président-directeur général de l’AFPN. « Cette émission montre que les deux parties sont sur la même longueur d’onde et font avancer le Canada. »

L’AFPN a émis sa plus importante obligation à ce jour, levant 800 millions de dollars pour les gouvernements des Premières Nations afin d’accélérer le développement économique et social mené par les communautés à travers le Canada. Ce financement soutient des projets à fort impact, notamment la construction de nouveaux logements, des infrastructures essentielles, ainsi que l’acquisition de terrains et d’entreprises, portant ainsi l’investissement total de l’AFPN dans les communautés membres à plus de 5 milliards de dollars.

Indigenous Partnerships: The Gateway to Canada

FNFA was proud to be the first Indigenous sponsor of the Canadian Indigenous Investment Summit in London, United Kingdom last month. During an opening panel on the growth of Indigenous finance, Ernie Daniels shared about the results of FNFA’s affordable financing programs.

By utilizing the First Nations Fiscal Management Act (2005), FNFA is demonstrating how federal legislation can successfully support stable, long-term access to capital that builds community wealth, creates project certainty, and generates positive socio-economic outcomes that benefit all Canadians.

Partenariats autochtones : la porte d'entrée vers le Canada

L’AFPN était fière d’être le premier commanditaire autochtone du Canadian Indigenous Investment Summit qui a eu lieu à Londres, au Royaume-Uni, le mois dernier. Lors d’une table ronde d’ouverture sur la croissance de la finance autochtone, Ernie Daniels a présenté les résultats des programmes de financement abordables de l’AFPN.

En s’appuyant sur la Loi sur la gestion financière des premières nations (2005), l’AFPN démontre comment la législation fédérale peut soutenir avec succès un accès stable et à long terme au capital qui renforce la richesse communautaire, assure la sécurité des projets et génère des retombées socio-économiques positives dont bénéficient tous les Canadiens.

June is , a time to honour the history, heritage, and incredible resilience of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples who have stewarded these lands and waters across Turtle Island since time immemorial.

Indigenous history is alive, evolving, and carried forward everyday through language, art, land stewardship, and community leadership. This month (and every month), we celebrate the contributions of Indigenous creators, elders, youth, and water protectors who continue to shape a better future for the next generations.

Wind Power Fueling Next Generations

Henvey Inlet First Nation engaged in one of the largest First Nation wind energy partnerships in Canada with Pattern Energy to build Henvey Inlet Wind – a 300 MW wind project that generates enough clean energy to power 100,000 Ontario homes.

The Anishinabek community is located about 90 kilometers south of Sudbury, Ontario on Robinson Huron Treaty Territory and FNFA was proud to support the Nation with $117 million in financing resulting in the creation of an estimated 1000 jobs.

La Première Nation de Henvey Inlet s’est engagée dans l’un des plus grands partenariats de Premières Nations en matière d’énergie éolienne au Canada avec Pattern Energy pour construire Henvey Inlet Wind – un projet éolien de 300 MW qui produit suffisamment d’énergie propre pour alimenter 110 000 foyers en Ontario.

La communauté Anishinabek est située à environ 90 kilomètres au sud de Sudbury, en Ontario, sur le territoire du traité Robinson-Huron et l’AFPN est fière d’avoir soutenu la nation en lui accordant un financement de 117 millions de dollars, ce qui a permis de créer environ 1 000 emplois.
