June is Indigenous History Month, a time to honour and uplift the stories, cultures, languages, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples. At Westbank First Nation, we celebrate the strength of our suknaqínx, sqilxʷ, syilx Okanagan people, reflect on our shared history, and continue the work of preserving our traditions for future generations.

On June 21st, we recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day. This date coincides with the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, which holds cultural and spiritual significance for many Indigenous communities.

Throughout the month, we invite our community to learn, listen, and walk alongside us in the spirit of respect, understanding, and reconciliation as we honour Indigenous histories and celebrate Indigenous cultures.

Calling all Indigenous youth artists!

Do you have a vision for what siwłk water means to you — what it looks like when it flows freely, and what's lost when it doesn't?

The Environmental Flows 2026: siwłk Water for All Conference is looking for YOU to design the official conference logo — and the prize package is enticing:
💰 $500 cash prize
🎨 Two coaching sessions with celebrated Syilx Artist Evelyn Alec
🖼️ 100% of profits from prints sold at the conference

The contest is open to Indigenous youth ages 14–30 living in the Okanagan and broader Syilx Territory. Your design will be the face of an international water conference coming to Kelowna this October, co-hosted by OBWB, Okanagan Nation Alliance and Canadian Water Resources Association.

May 21, 2026 WFN was honoured to be a part of the arrival of the Memorial Cup.

The cup travelled by canoe, across Okanagan Lake from stqaʔtkʷɬniwt (Westbank) to kiʔlawnaʔ (Kelowna). This journey is symbolic of mutual respect, understanding, and coming together in a good way.

We welcome all our visitors, event organizers, athletes & fans to our territory.

Thank you to all those who helped organize this event.
