Montréal Grand Prix – Increased vigilance at the airport ✈️🏁

This weekend, our police officers will be present at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport to raise awareness among travellers.
In collaboration with CBSA, Aéroports de Montréal, Sûreté du Québec, SPVM and U.S. Department of Homeland Security, RCMP police officers will approach travellers to:
• Identify the signs of human trafficking and sexual exploitation
• Intervene quickly in high-risk situations.

👉 Important reminder: Buying sexual services is illegal in Canada
👉 Discreet information is also available to help vulnerable people.

Given the significant influx of travellers, these measures will contribute to early detection and to maintain a safe environment for all.

Lévis man arrested for terrorism allegations
Mohamed Ali Ben Chaoua, 40, has been arrested this morning as part of a national security investigation.

The investigation began in March 2025 following an online report to the RCMP’s National Security Information Network.
According to information gathered so far, Mr. Ben Chaoua allegedly made numerous posts on TikTok in support of the Islamic State.

The purpose of the police operation was to compel Mr. Ben Chaoua to cease his suspicious activities and to lay a terrorism peace bond. This will enable the implementation of monitoring measures and de-escalation tools to disrupt or mitigate potential terrorist offences.

The CCGS Constable Carrière and the CCGS Caporal Kaeble V.C. are now ready for action for this brand new navigation season! 🫡

The 2026 season of the Maritime Safety Enforcement Team (MSET) officially began on April 15 at the Dartmouth Coast Guard Station, across from Halifax. The vessels spent the winter there to protect them from ice and to allow for maintenance and modernization work.

Until December, the four crews will alternate from week to week on board these Canadian Coast Guard vessels chartered specifically for RCMP operations. The territory to be covered is immense: from Montréal to eastern Newfoundland, and from southern Nova Scotia to Nain, a village located on the northeast coast of Labrador.

There are more than 90 harbors to visit throughout the season. Marinas, various nautical installations and pleasure boats are also in the sights of MSET.

The team's intelligence mandate supports investigations related to national security, organized crime, human trafficking and drug trafficking.

Safe sailing! 🚢

Celebrating National Police Week also means highlighting community engagement.

The 47th Déjeuner des agents de la paix, held in Rimouski on Sunday, April 26, was an outstanding success.

The event smashed expectations and set new records for both participation and generosity. While $38,000 was raised in 2025, this year’s total hit $48,000! Nearly 900 breakfasts were served, clear proof of the community’s remarkable support.

All proceeds were donated to Maison Marie-Élisabeth in Rimouski, a vital palliative care organization in the region.

On Monday, on Police Recognition Day, we were at the École nationale de police du Québec to honor police officers.

We recognized those who lost their lives in the line of duty, as well as the ongoing commitment of those who continue to serve every day.

Thank you for your service.
