Jason Nemis of the Westville Police Service attended The Police Week Celebration Day Event in Amherst Nova Scotia on May 14, 2026 in celebration with National Police Week which runs from May 10 to May 16. National Police Week began in 1970 as a way for the police to connect with their communities and to increase awareness about the services they provide.

A man is facing multiple charges following a drug trafficking investigation in Pictou County.

On April 30, the Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (PCISCEU), with the assistance of the Pictou County District RCMP, arrested a man at a property on Mountville Rd. in Mountville as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation. He was found in possession of presumed fentanyl and cash, and his truck was seized.

Following the arrest, officers executed a search warrant at a home on Grant St. During the search, police seized additional presumed fentanyl, co***ne, crystal methamphetamine, cash, and thousands of hydromorphone pills, with an estimated street value exceeding $50,000. A stolen motorcycle was also recovered from the property.

On May 4, PCISCEU officers executed a search warrant on the man’s truck. Inside, they located more presumed fentanyl, digital scales, and stolen tools.

In total, approximately 35 grams of presumed fentanyl were seized during the investigation.

Riley Michael Lloyd, 37, of Trenton, has been charged with:
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (fentanyl)
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine)
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (co***ne)
• Failure to Comply with Release Order (two counts)
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (three counts)

Lloyd was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on June 8.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (PCISCEU) seized a variety of weapons, including multiple fi****ms, during a search warrant ex*****on in Westville.

On April 14, officers attended a home on Foxbrook Rd. as part of an ongoing investigation. The PCISCEU led the search warrant ex*****on, with support from Nova Scotia RCMP Police Dog Services, Westville Police Service, and Stellarton Police Department.

During the search, investigators seized several fi****ms, as well as prohibited and restricted firearm accessories and ammunition. Officers also seized crossbows, other weapons such as swords that are considered dangerous to the public, and body armour. A 33-year-old Westville man was arrested.

The man was later released on conditions pending a court appearance scheduled for July 13.

🚨 PUBLIC ASSISTANCE REQUEST – WESTVILLE POLICE SERVICE 🚨
Westville Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying individuals involved in an incident that occurred in the Acadia Park / North Main Street area of Westville on the evening of March 18, 2026.
At approximately 9:20 PM – 9:40 PM, police received a report that occupants of a vehicle approached individuals in the area and were observed displaying objects believed to be weapons before leaving the scene. The presence and nature of any weapons have not been confirmed at this time. Fortunately, no serious physical injuries were reported.
Based on the information available at this time, this incident is believed to have been isolated and random in nature, with no indication of an ongoing threat to the public.
As part of the ongoing investigation (PROS File #: 2026353213), police have obtained photos of individuals and a vehicle believed to be involved and are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.
📸 Photos of the individuals and vehicle are attached below.
The vehicle is described as a brown Chevrolet Aveo with black trim along the doors, and is believed to have had its license plate obscured. The individuals involved are described as young males wearing face coverings.

NOTICE
WINTER PARKING REGULATIONS
Whereas due to the congestion on the streets and highways in the community of Westville caused
by vehicular and pedestrian traffic and the limitation on the free use of the streets liable to be
caused by the presence of snow and ice thereon and notwithstanding that certain traffic signs have
been erected in these communities prohibiting or permitting vehicles to park or stand upon any
street during the hours stated thereon:
(a) No person shall park or leave standing any vehicle upon any street in these communities
between the hours of 01:00 a.m. and 07:00 a.m. of the same day.
(b) No owner, driver or person having control or custody of any vehicle
shall between the 1st day of December 2025 and the 15th day of April, 2026, park or leave
unattended by a person authorized to move and capable of operating the same upon any street in the
above manner as to hinder, inconvenience or prevent removal or snow or ice from such highway or
street.
(c) No owner, driver or person having control or custody of any vehicle shall during the period
from one hour after any snowstorm has commenced to two hours after such snowstorm has stopped,
park the vehicle if it is unattended by a person authorized to move and capable of operating the
same, upon any street in these communities.
Nothing in the foregoing shall apply to:
1. A motor vehicle of a physician or surgeon parked reasonably near his/her office or
residence and immediately available for professional calls.
2. A motor vehicle parked by a physician or surgeon who is actually engaged in his/her
professional occupation and reasonably near where he/she is so engaged.
3. A motor vehicle parked by an operator who is actually engaged in discharging his/her duties as a
Police Officer or a member of the police or the armed services.
4. A motor vehicle parked by an operator who is actually engaged in discharging his/her duties
as a member of a Fire Department.
5. A commercial vehicle parked by an operator for the purpose of loading or unloading
merchandise.
6. A motor vehicle belonging to a public utility company or corporation parked reasonably near
the residence of an operator and immediately available for emergency calls.
It shall be an offence for any person to fail to comply with these regulations and such person will
be liable to a penalty as provided by Section 293 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
No person shall remove or permit to be removed snow or ice from a property onto a public street,
sidewalk or another public place.
Businesses are reminded that it is your responsibility to remove all snow and ice from the sidewalk
abutting their property including the street corner.
Your cooperation is essential for the safety of all pedestrians particularly school children and
senior citizens during the winter months.
