As we move into the Autumn season, we’re looking to bring our local community together for a special Harvest Market celebrating the farmers, growers, makers, food producers, and small businesses that make our region so special.

✨We would like to introduce Tyler MacLeod who has joined Westville Recreation as the new Shared MPAL (Municipal Physical Activity Leader) with the Town of Westville and the Town of Stellarton! You may have seen some of his work recently with the Acadia Park Community Challenge and wondered who is the new kid in town?!✨

A Message from Tyler:

Hello Westville,

My name is Tyler MacLeod and I am the new Active Living Coordinator for the Towns of Westville and Stellarton. I have just recently moved to Pictou County, but I am originally from Yarmouth. Last May I graduated from Acadia University where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Community Development. I also have done recreation programming in a senior's retirement residence and completed a work placement with the Town of Kentville's recreation department.

Westville Police Service wish for all students heading back to school tomorrow a fantastic, safe day.

Work on the redevelopment of Westville's former school building is expected to begin soon, with the project targeting completion in May 2028.

Mayor White told Westville Town Council that the purchase and sale agreement for the property has now closed, allowing the redevelopment project to move forward.

The initial work will include securing the building and installing temporary power.

Abatement work is expected to begin in December and continue through the winter. Interior demolition will follow.

Once the interior demolition is completed, the developer will be able to apply for a building permit and proceed through the Town's planning process.

The goal is to begin the main construction phase early next year.

White described the expected timeline as significant news for the community and said he wanted residents to know what work will be taking place at the site.

The project is currently targeting a May 2028 completion date.

A peace pole will soon be installed in Westville's Acadia Park after Town Council approved a request from the Westville Rotary Club.

The pole will carry the message "May peace prevail on Earth."

Council approved the proposal during its latest meeting.

Town staff and Rotary representatives will determine the exact location of the pole within Acadia Park.

Council was told the project would make Westville the first town in the immediate area to have a peace pole, although similar poles have already been installed elsewhere in Nova Scotia.

The proposal was brought forward by a member of the Westville Rotary Club, who noted the organization already has the pole and is prepared to proceed with installation.

Council unanimously approved the request.
