Tonight members of the Westville Fire-Rescue honoured Westville's First Town Crier George Dooley. George won a Town Crier competition during the Westville Canada Day Celebrations in 1988. After 38 years George is retiring. He has been a important part of the department either leading our parade or opening many of the events we hold. Thank you George! ps....George will continue in his role of Department Historian. George was presented a plaque by Deputy Chief Steele.

Deputy Chief Tom Steele had the privilege of speaking to the Walter Duggan Student Leadership Group yesterday at the Council Chambers along with Mayor Lennie White,Councillor Helen Dunn plus Town Works Superintendent Chris Selig. These students are our future leaders and threw some hardball questions to the Mayor!
On behalf of the Westville Fire Dept ,the Deputy Chief acknowledged the work of the Walter Duggan Student Leadership Group and that the values they are learning will be a part of them forever. He presented each student a Westville Fire Dept Challenge Coin. That coin symbolizes that we have been here in Westville for 152 years and like our department these students are learning the same values by serving, informing and being good citizens and role models . Hats off to the staff of Walter Duggan Consolidated School for their work in this area.
