The lovely Mei Madden, executive director of the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation, very generously signed my nomination papers and I am thrilled to have her support. Besides throwing the absolute best events in Whistler, Mei is one of those community members who is so involved you just expect to see her at every fundraiser. Whistler loves you Mei! Thank you for your support!

This is Jackie Dickinson, executive director at the Whistler Community Services Society and another of the women of Whistler who signed my nomination papers. I have known Jackie for several years through my volunteer work and am constantly in awe of her willingness to roll up her sleeves for her community. She never says no and is always fully committed to helping people. My admiration for Jackie grows every time we interact and I’m so grateful she was yet again willing to step up when she was needed by endorsing me and providing me with her invaluable insights throughout this campaign. Oh AND she’s up for Business Person of the Year in this year’s Excellence Awards!!

Thank you, Jackie!

This is Meaghan Sutter from - another amazing woman of Whistler who signed my nomination papers.

Meaghan is a local small business owner making Whistler work for her and she is a great example of the reason I am running for council.

Meaghan has been in the community since 2015 growing her business and helping her clients achieve their performance goals. I have a lot of respect for entrepreneurs like Meaghan, they make our town a better place to live. I will work to keep locals like Meaghan in the community and provide opportunities for small businesses like hers to flourish. Thanks for your endorsement Meaghan! 💪

For the past few weeks, I’ve been meeting with community members and learning more about our beautiful town, but today I decided to slow down and take some time for myself.

Taking care of your mental health is important; so, if I’m elected, I will work to ensure resources are more accessible. Everyone in our community deserves the opportunity to get the care they need.

This is little Jessie outside Marmots Daycare at age 3.

This one hits home as I am now facing the same challenges many Whistler families have faced over the years. Going back to work, I haven’t been able to get my daughter in to daycare and do not know when or if it will happen in the future. I am lucky to have family and family here but many do not have the same help and are forced to make difficult decisions.

If elected, I vow to make childcare more accessible for Whistler families through initiatives such as subsidized daycare like our neighbouring communities have. I will also be an advocate for teachers to be paid a liveable wage and for the Early Childhood Education certificate to be recognized from other jurisdictions.

We need to take action and I can be the person who puts in the work in to get us there.

When completing my nomination papers, I noticed that there were spots for 10 additional signatures from nominators. A candidate is only required to get two residents of Whistler to make the nomination official, so the extra signatures are a way to show community support.

I chose to contact 12 women of Whistler who I admire. There are, of course, MANY more people I would have liked to reach out to as well, but there were only 12 spots.

I am truly honoured to have the confidence of these 12 women who have contributed so much to our community and are incredible role models.

In the following weeks I am going to showcase each of these women individually and show you why I admire them so much but for now, here are the names of the 12.

Joan Richoz
Jackie Dickinson
Amanda Rousseau
Karin Emond
Mei Madden
Megan Sutter
Nancy Wilhelm-Morden
Amy Mac Gorman
Anne Chiasson
Ginny Dennehey

A little about me - Jessie Morden, your candidate for municipal council.

I am privileged to have been born and raised in Whistler and have called this town home for the past 34 years (other than a brief stint living up north). My husband, who is also named Jesse, and I have a daughter and are expecting a little boy this winter. We also have 4 dogs so I’m quite accustomed to having my hands full!

I work as a legal assistant for Race & Company and am a regular, long time community volunteer with organizations such as Arts Whistler, Whistler Community Services Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, WAG and Zero Ceiling.

On days that I am not working or volunteering my time, you can find me out and about with my family hiking the local trails or enjoying a patio with friends. Every day in Whistler is better than the last and I will work to ensure that is true for future generations!

Please consider voting for me on October 15!

One of the many reasons I love Whistler and have decided to raise my family here is the interconnected Valley Trail system that travels the entire span of Whistler.

I live in an employee restricted home in Brio and can access the trail network right outside my door which provides a safe and easy means of getting around the valley. If elected, I will keep this type of access for young families top of mind when making decisions about housing. I want to increase the supply of employee restricted housing and make getting on the Valley Trail easier for current and future neighbourhoods.

Hello everyone.

Thank you for liking my page and your support this early in the game.

Tomorrow a press release and interview with the Pique will be issued in which my platform and other issues our community is facing.

If anyone has any questions or ideas they’d like to throw my way, I am always available.

Again, thank you so much for your support now and in the future. I look forward to this journey and what I can learn from it and you!

Have a good day!

❤️ ✌️
