A very tragic day in Colorado and the town of Colorado Springs where hate and intolerance has taken the lives of LGBTQ people. This day of Transgender Day of Remembrance is painfully marred by a senseless act of violence. Our hearts go out to the community and all those impacted by this terrible tragedy 💔

It is with a very heavy heart to share the news of the passing of
Rick Leonovich
March 12, 1963 – August 18, 2022

Rick’s passion to give back to the LGBTQ community was enormous. He served on the Whistler Pride and Ski Festival, Vancouver Pride Society, InterPride - International Association of LGBTI Pride Organizers, Fierté Canada Pride and many other organizations.

His infectious smile, laugh and genuine warm welcome will be missed.

There will be a gathering to celebrate his life - details to come in the following days. Please send your thoughts and prayers to his father John, his sisters Vicki and Yvonne, and the rest of his family as well as his many friends.

NOTICE: Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) invites eligible Whistler adults 18-54 years of age to receive a COVID-19 vaccination starting on Apr. 12, 2021 over a two-week period.

Eligible adults are:
Between 18-54 who have not yet been vaccinated
Have their primary residence in Whistler and/or work in Whistler

Vaccinations will take place at the Whistler Conference Centre, by appointment only. The link to appointment bookings will open at 1 p.m. today. Proof of primary residency or employment in Whistler will be required.
