Congratulations to Perry House on celebrating 50 years of service, to our community, to families and to children. My child went here, I served on the Board, and we have so many happy memories with the fine staff and wonderful families that provided our son a warm, supportive environment. I'm sure so many of us do!

Yesterday in Whitby

The Walk to end IPV brought people together around the work of ending intimate partner violence and building safer communities.

Perry House Child Care celebrated 50 years of nurturing generations of Whitby children and families.

And in Port Whitby, neighbours planted a Little Forest that will grow and change with the community for decades to come.

There was something hopeful in all of it. People showing up for each other, celebrating what has been built, and putting time and care into building an even better future.

Imagine still lacing up your skates and playing hockey in your 80s!

On October 24, Whitby is hosting the 80+ Hockey Hall of Fame, and this isn't just an induction ceremony. These remarkable athletes will be taking to the ice and playing hockey and we have so many players right here in Whitby!

I was very happy to sponsor this event because I think what these players represent is so important. Staying active as we age supports our physical health, but recreation also keeps us connected. It gives us community, friendship, routine and purpose.

I would love to see Whitby come out to support them! Iroquois Park Sports Centre on October 24, puck drops at 1:45! Let's help fill the stands and show them how impressed we are. Still playing the game you love at 80+ deserves a pretty great cheering section. 🏒

Last night, a meeting/coyote education session on coyotes in Whitby took place at the Centennial building. It was not well attended. I think that's a bit unfortunate because it was very informative. I'm posting some of the information provided for those who didn't make it but might have an interest in the contents of the meeting.
