As National Police Week ends tomorrow, we wanted to share another pic. While hanging out with her mom, Our Deputy Director’s granddaughter had seen pics of our Director & her HaHa (our Deputy Director) delivering goodies to our local LE agencies and told her mom she had to make her favorite SRO a gift after her mom explained what NPW means. So, after a trip to their local store, Emma had supplies for her gift basket. Below is the result of that trip and Emma’s favorite Deputy Trey Thompson smile after receiving his basket!!

🚒 Join Us for the Push-In Ceremony of Tanker 16 🚒

Kershaw County Fire Service invites our community, neighboring agencies, and fellow first responders to celebrate the official arrival of Tanker 16. This special ceremony marks another step forward in strengthening fire protection and emergency response capabilities for the citizens of Kershaw County.

📅 Tuesday, May 19th, 2026
⏰ 5:30 PM
📍 833 Pine Grove Rd.
Lugoff, SC 29078

The “Push-In Ceremony” is a long-standing fire service tradition dating back to the days of horse-drawn apparatus, when firefighters physically pushed equipment back into the station after returning from calls. Today, it symbolizes teamwork, pride, and the beginning of a new chapter of service to our community.

Community members, neighboring agencies, and fellow first responders are all welcome to attend as we officially place Tanker 16 into service.

We look forward to seeing you there! 🚒🇺🇸

This week is National Police Week and we couldn’t let it slip by without letting our county LE agencies know how much we appreciate them and the jobs they do. We took time today to drop sweet baked goods to Elgin PD, KC Sheriff’s Office and Camden PD. Thank you to all the men and women who protect and serve our wonderful cities and county!

We hope you all enjoy your treats!!!

Courage Beyond the Badge

We often speak of the bravery our law enforcement officers display in the line of duty, but today we are highlighting a different kind of fight, one fought with quiet strength and immense dignity.

Three of your former Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). These men spent their careers protecting our community; they then spent their personal lives battling a relentless neurodegenerative disease that currently has no cure.

Out of respect for the privacy of these former deputies and their families, their names will not be released. However, we believe it is vital to honor the service and the sacrifice of these three dedicated men who gave so much to Kershaw County.

To Our Fallen Brothers:

You protected us, and now it is our turn to stand behind your memory. We recognize your strength, and we carry your legacy forward.

To anyone in our community currently battling this devastating disorder: Your KCSO stands with you. We are stronger together, and no one fights alone.

Tonight, Kershaw County Council made a proclamation claiming May as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS/ Lou Gehrig’s disease) Awareness month. County Councilman Danny Catoe led this motion and presented several proclamations to ALS warriors and their families. Philip Crawford, an Air Force veteran and former KCSO lieutenant, was one of those warriors; he retired from his role as Polygraph Examiner for the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office in Investigations before losing his battle with ALS in 2017.
Remembered by his family as a loving husband and wonderful father, Phil also was a well respected deputy and later, Investigator. His wife, our Director, Patricia Martin Crawford, their daughters Olivia and Chloe, his son in law Carlos, his sister in law Susan, and his granddaughter Raeleigh accepted the proclamation from Councilman Catoe & KC county council.
