For us, celebrations like these are about so much more than the food. They’re about creating meaningful moments and making sure our residents feel surrounded by love, friendship, and a sense of belonging.

Today, we honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

September 30 is a day to remember and honour the children who never returned home, Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.

At Bayview Seniors Community, we recognize the importance of listening, learning, reflecting, and carrying these lessons forward with respect and compassion.

Today, and every day, we stand with Indigenous communities and acknowledge that reconciliation is an ongoing journey.

We recently celebrated Mexican Independence Day at Bayview with an afternoon full of colour, music, and fun on our 3rd floor outdoor patio. Residents enjoyed themed food and drinks prepared by our culinary team, live entertainment, dancing and of course, a piñata!

Days like these are about more than having fun. They bring residents together, create opportunities to socialize, and add a little something special to everyday life at Bayview.

Today, September 21, we recognize World Alzheimer’s Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness, increasing understanding, and challenging the stigma surrounding Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

For communities like Bayview that provide memory care, this day is especially meaningful. It is a reminder that behind every diagnosis is a person with a lifetime of experiences, relationships, preferences, and stories that continue to matter.

Supporting someone living with dementia is about more than meeting their care needs. It is about creating moments of connection, maintaining familiar routines, encouraging meaningful engagement, and helping each person experience dignity, comfort, and belonging.

It also means supporting the families who walk alongside their loved ones through the changes and challenges that dementia can bring.

Today, we recognize those living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, the families who love and support them, and the caregivers and healthcare professionals who make a difference in their lives every day.

Residents recently enjoyed an afternoon of hand massages, freshly painted nails, and a little extra TLC at Bayview. And as the photos prove, the pampering wasn’t just for the ladies!

From choosing the perfect shade, to simply relaxing with a soothing hand massage, it was a lovely opportunity to slow down, chat, laugh, and enjoy being cared for.

These simple moments are part of what life at Bayview is all about. Alongside 24/7 nursing care, we make time for the activities, friendships, routines, and little pleasures that help make each day meaningful.

Our recent drum circle brought residents together for an afternoon filled with music, movement, laughter, and plenty of energy.

Led by Rhonda Bruce of Balanced Energy Wellness Drumming & Qi Gong , residents joined in at their own pace, playing drums and percussion while enjoying the rhythm and each other’s company.

Moments like these are what life at Bayview is all about: staying engaged, connecting with others, trying something different, and having fun together.
