Heads up, educators!

This summer, our education team has been hard at work creating simple, fun, curriculum-connected learning experiences for K-12 classrooms inspired by the animals, environments, and stories of Beringia. Our expansive resources cover everything from geology to Ice Age survival— even touching on cloning along the way👀.

While creating these resources, we wanted to keep the needs of everyone in mind. Whether you’re a teacher looking for new in-class materials, a parent looking for educational at-home activities, or just someone who wants to learn more about the Ice Age, we have a variety of activities to suit various skill levels and needs.

And the best part? They’re completely free.

Huge news! This summer, you can discover our beautiful country with the Canada Strong Pass once again! 🇨🇦

Make the most of your visit to the Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre to explore the culture, history, and experiences that make the Ice Age, and this country, so unique.

Starting this Friday, June 19th until Monday, September 7, 2025, we're offering discounted admission to visitors 24 and under.
✅ Visitors between the ages of 0 and 17 receive free admission.
✅ Visitors between the ages of 18 and 24 receive a 50% discount on general admission.

To confirm that you qualify for the special rates, you may be asked to show proof of age. You do not need to obtain a physical or digital pass. Discounts are applied automatically at your time of visit.

This bone was found in the wetlands near the Yukon River. Can you guess what animal it belonged to?

This specimen also shows signs of decay, making it an excellent sample for skeletal taphonomy, the study of what happens to bones after death. The wear and weathering on this bone can tell the story of the journey from living animal to fossil.

This feature-length film was produced right here in the Yukon and showcases Yukon scientists and artists as they pursue these intriguing creatures of the past.

This morning, our Education Team had the opportunity to visit our friends at Paleontology and Archaeology for a behind-the-scenes learning experience.

A huge thank you goes out to Christian Thomas and Elizabeth Hall for showing us around, sharing their expansive knowledge, and answering our questions.

We had a great time learning more about Yukon fossils and artifacts, and our team is already hard at work taking what they learned and integrating it into educational programming.

Tiny bugs, big science!
We’re super excited to be a part of the University of Guelph’s BugQuest, a Canada-wide project helping scientists discover and document the insect species living all around us.

This summer, we’ve set up a Malaise trap on the trail outside the front of our building. Over the next few months, we’ll be collecting insect samples from this trap, contributing to one of the largest biodiversity surveys ever in Canada! These samples will be sent to researchers in Guelph where they will be DNA barcoded. This will help them identify species, track environmental change, and learn more about Canada’s diverse ecosystems!

For thousands of years, mammoths roamed the Yukon, and our fascination with this charismatic megafauna runs deep!

Join us this summer for special screenings of a Yukon-made mammoth discovery adventure! Starting Saturday, May 16, and running every other Saturday through the summer, we will be showing Mammoth Hunters, by Yukon filmmakers Fritz Mueller & Teresa Earle.

Mammoth Hunters unites artists, scientists, and explorers in their quest to discover and learn about the lure and mystery of these Ice Age giants.

Summer showings of Mammoth Hunters: May 16, May 30, June 13. June 27, July 1, July 25, August 8, and August 22.
