Yesterday marked the final day of the Legislative Assembly’s spring sitting.

Some things that stood out:

➡️ Debra-Leigh Reti - MLA for Vuntut Gwitchin brought a strong focus to issues affecting her community of Old Crow.

➡️ The Yukon Party framed much of their agenda around a “dire fiscal picture,” while moving quickly to roll back existing initiatives, including the Health Authority and the Clean Energy Act.

➡️ We’ve had growing concerns not only about the decisions being made, but how they’re being made - how quickly, who they’re ultimately serving, and the tone in which different ideas and views are debated and exchanged.

➡️ The tone in the House was, at times, tense and abrupt, though there were also thoughtful contributions and moving tributes from members on all sides.

➡️ It was encouraging to hear new voices bringing fresh perspectives to the Assembly, even as much of the government’s voice came only from the Premier and a small number of cabinet ministers.

➡️ We also saw important discussions about ministerial and MLA spending, and how that reconciles with the Yukon’s stated fiscal challenge.

As we head into the summer, Yukoners will be watching closely as debates move from words to action, and as decisions are made about the Yukon’s future.

The spring sitting has wrapped up, and I just want to say a HUGE mahsi cho to everyone who supported me through it all ♥️

I might be one Liberal MLA in the House, but I’m backed by an enormous support system.

A big thank you to my staff for your hard work, patience, training, steady support, and constant positivity - you keep everything moving and I’m so grateful for you.

Thank you as well to the Liberal Executive, former cabinet ministers, and former candidates who were always just a call or message away with advice, encouragement, and help when it was needed.

And most of all, much love to my family and my community of Old Crow. You ground me, you strengthen me, and you remind me why this work matters. I hope I made you proud.

It’s Emergency Preparedness Week - a good reminder to take a few simple steps now that can make a big difference later.

Start with the basics:

✔️ Have a plan
✔️ Monitor emergency updates by following Yukon Protective Services
✔️ Build a grab-and-go kit
✔️ Be ready to take care of yourself and your household for at least 72 hours

That means water, food, medications, and a few essentials in one place so you can move quickly if needed.

May is Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month.

Living in the North can make it even harder to access specialized care and support, which is why awareness, research, and better health services matter so much.

This month, we recognize Yukoners living with MS, their families, and the advocates working to improve care closer to home.

On Red Dress Day, we honour and remember Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit+ People.

Ending this violence means addressing the root causes - intergenerational trauma, systemic barriers, gaps in the justice system, and complex cycles of violence. It means better prevention, earlier intervention when people are at risk, real supports for healing and safety, and a justice system that responds more quickly, more consistently, and with real accountability.
