Highlights include:
• In the first quarter (January to March) of 2026, Yukon’s retail sales increased by $12.9 million, or 5.1%, compared to the same period in 2025; Canada’s retail sales increased 3.2% over the same period.
• In April 2026, on a year-over-year basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Whitehorse increased 4.2%; for Canada, the CPI increased 2.8%.
• Comparing May 2026 to April 2026, employment in the services-producing sector (22,900) decreased by 400, or 1.7%. Employment in the goods-producing sector (3,300) increased by 300, or 10.0%.

Highlights include:
• In May 2026, Yukon’s unemployment rate (6.3%) increased by 1.0 percentage point compared to April 2026 (5.3%).
• Compared to the figures for April 2026, Yukon’s labour force remained the same at 28,500, the number of employed decreased by 300 to 26,700, and the number of unemployed increased by 300 to 1,800.
• The national unemployment rate was 6.6% in May 2026, a decrease of 0.3 percentage points from April 2026 (6.9%).
• Compared to the April 2026 figures, the labour force in Canada was virtually unchanged, the number of employed increased by 0.4%, and the number of unemployed decreased by 5.4%

• In the first quarter of 2026, the total value of real estate transactions in Yukon was $73.2 million: $64.4 million in Whitehorse and $8.8 million for the rest of Yukon.
• The average sale price of a single‑detached house in Whitehorse was $753,300, an increase of $40,600, or 5.7%, from the first quarter of 2025.
• The average condominium apartment sale price in Whitehorse was $496,900, an increase of $67,100, or 15.6%, from the first quarter of 2025.

• In April 2026, Yukon’s unemployment rate (5.3%) increased by 1.4 percentage points compared to March 2026 (3.9%).
• Compared to the figures for March 2026, Yukon’s labour force increased by 200 to 28,500, the number of employed decreased by 200 to 27,000, and the number of unemployed increased by 400 to 1,500.
• The national unemployment rate was 6.9% in April 2026, an increase of 0.2 percentage points from March 2026 (6.7%).

• Comparing 2025 to 2016, the value of Yukon’s retail sales increased by $449.6 million, or 59.9%.
• On a per capita basis, sales increased by 29.9% between 2016 and 2025, representing an annualized growth rate of 2.9%.

Highlights include:
• The estimated population of Yukon on December 31, 2025, was 48,135; an increase of 873, or 1.8%, compared to the figure for December 31, 2024 (47,262).
• Comparing December 31, 2025, to December 31, 2015, Yukon's population increased by 10,267 or 27.1%. The population of the Whitehorse area increased by 9,203, or 31.3%; Dawson City increased by 323, or 15.5%; Watson Lake increased by 38, or 2.6%; and Haines Junction increased by 193, or 22.0%.

• In February 2026, on a year-over-year basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Whitehorse increased 3.0% (figures for Yukon are not available); for Canada, the CPI increased 1.8%.
• Comparing January 2026 to January 2025, the total receipts for food services and drinking places in Yukon decreased by $307,000, or 3.6%; Canada’s receipts increased by 5.5% over the same period.
• The price of gold on March 31, 2026, was $4,553.95 USD per troy oz., an increase of $1,433.75 USD, or 46.0%, compared to the price of gold on March 31, 2025 ($3,120.20 USD per troy oz.).

• In March 2026, Yukon’s unemployment rate (3.9%) remained the same as in February 2026.
• Compared to the figure for February 2026, Yukon’s labour force increased by 300 to 28,300, the number of employed increased by 300 to 27,200, and the number of unemployed remained the same at 1,100.
• The national unemployment rate was 6.7% in March 2026, the same as in February 2026.
