103 Mile Water System Low Water Pressure Notice

The Cariboo Regional District is advising residents in portions of the 103 Mile Water System that they may experience reduced water pressure due to a mechanical issue affecting the system.

Crews are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. During this time, customers may notice lower-than-normal water pressure. Water service is expected to remain available.

Residents are encouraged to:

Conserve water wherever possible until repairs are complete.
Avoid unnecessary outdoor water use.
Delay high water-use activities, such as filling pools or extensive irrigation, until normal pressure has been restored.

If you have further questions, please call the Environmental Services department at 1-800-665-1636 during regular office hours.

08/06/2026

The Cariboo Regional District has issued a Boil Water Notice effective August 6, 2026, to the Canim Lake Water system users pursuant to a request of a Drinking Water Officer under Section 14 of the Drinking Water Protection Act.

The notice has been issued as a precaution following mechanical issues that caused water levels in the system to drop. Reduced water levels can affect system integrity, requiring a Boil Water Notice.

All users of the Canim Lake Water System are asked to bring water to a rolling boil for a minimum of one minute before using water from the system for:

Drinking (or use an alternate, safe source of water)
Cooking (if not boiled)
Brushing teeth
Washing dishes
Washing fruits or vegetables to be eaten raw
Watering animals

Also, please use hand sanitizer after washing hands.

This advisory remains in effect until it is officially rescinded by the Cariboo Regional District.

The CRD will not issue daily notices while the advisory remains unchanged. If you have not received a rescind notice, the Boil Water Advisory is still in effect.

When the advisory is lifted, the CRD will notify affected residents through the same communication channels used to issue the advisory, including Voyent Alert, the CRD website, and Facebook.

If you have further questions, please call the Environmental Services department at 1-800-665-1636 during regular office hours.

The 108 Mile Volunteer Fire Department is reactivating the air siren at the fire hall.

The siren will sound between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. when the fire department receives a call. Volunteer firefighters respond to a wide variety of calls, including automatic fire alarm activations, lift assists for BC Emergency Health Services, motor vehicle incidents, structure fires, and many other emergency situations.

The air siren is not a primary method of dispatching or contacting firefighters. Volunteer firefighters are notified 24 hours a day through dedicated paging, radio, and electronic notification systems. Because the siren is not relied upon to notify firefighters, it is only operating between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

The air siren is also NOT, and has never been, part of a public emergency notification or warning system. It will NOT be used to notify the public of wildfires, evacuation alerts or orders, or any other emergency.

If you hear the siren:

🚒 The fire department has received a call.
📟 Firefighters have already been notified through their normal dispatch systems.
🌲 It does NOT mean there is a wildfire nearby.
📢 It does NOT mean the public needs to take any action.

If there is ever an emergency that requires the public to take action, information will be shared through our official emergency notification system Voyent Alert!
