⏳ The Countdown is On! ⏳

We are just a few days away from the 77th Annual Ceremonial Review of 76 RCSCC MINAS, taking place on Tuesday, June 9!

This special event marks the culmination of another successful training year and provides an opportunity for our cadets to showcase the skills, knowledge, and accomplishments they have developed throughout the year. Guests will have the opportunity to see elements of the cadet training program in action, while we also recognize outstanding achievements through the presentation of annual awards and honours.

The officers, civilian instructors, volunteers, and cadets of 76 RCSCC MINAS are looking forward to welcoming family, friends, supporters, and community members as we celebrate the dedication, growth, and success of our cadets. We can't wait to share this important milestone with you! ⚓️🎖️

🌊⚓ Lest We Forget - Battle of the Atlantic Ceremony⚓🌊

76 RCSCC MINAS was proud to stand alongside members of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 009 Hants County in commemorating the Battle of the Atlantic - a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by the sailors, aviators, and merchant mariners who served during one of the longest campaigns of the Second World War. The ceremony takes place annually on the first Sunday in May.

Although the weather brought heavy downpours, the importance of remembrance never changed. Teams worked together to move the ceremony indoors, ensuring the commemoration could still take place, allowing us to gather in reflection and gratitude.

We are proud of our cadets for their professionalism and dedication in honouring those who served at sea and protected the freedoms we enjoy today.

We will remember them. 🌺⚓

🌿⚓ Getting out of the classroom and into the community!

A few weeks ago we took advantage of the beautiful weather to explore the trails around historic Fort Edward National Historic Site. Along the way, cadets had the opportunity to learn more about the area’s rich military history while enjoying time outdoors together.

A highlight of the walk was visiting the famous blockhouse at Fort Edward — the oldest remaining blockhouse in North America! Originally built by the British during the mid-1700s, the fort played an important role in protecting the region during times of conflict and remains an important part of Nova Scotia’s history today.

Learning doesn’t only happen in the classroom — sometimes the best lessons happen right in our own neighbourhood. ⚓🍁🥾

⚓ A huge thank you to Treena Scurlock for taking the time to speak with our cadets in April!

Commander (Ret’d) Scurlock is a 30-year veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy who served as a Marine Systems Engineering Officer, including Head of Department tours aboard HMCS St. John's and HMCS Charlottetown. Since retiring in 2018, she has continued supporting Canada’s maritime industry as a Senior Engineering Consultant with BMT Canada.

During her visit, Cmdr (Ret’d) Scurlock also presented cadets with a Pride flag and spoke about what it represents — inclusion, respect, courage, and creating an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued. 🌈⚓

Our cadets greatly appreciated the opportunity to hear about her experiences, leadership journey, and the many opportunities available through service and engineering. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, insight, and encouragement with the next generation of leaders! 👏

⚓⛵ Congratulations to PO1 Hunter on being offered a Staff Cadet position with the Seamanship Department at HMCS Ontario! ⚓🎉

This incredible opportunity reflects the dedication, leadership, and commitment you have shown throughout the training year. Your extra hours volunteering at the cadet nautical site and completing SCOP 4 training demonstrated a strong passion for learning and growing your seamanship skills. 🌊⚓

As a Staff Cadet, you will have the chance to put your knowledge and experience to work while helping other sea cadets develop and advance their own seamanship abilities. Your hard work, positive attitude, and willingness to keep learning continue to set a fantastic example for others in the corps. ⛵⚓👏

Fair winds and following seas this summer at HMCS Ontario — 76 RCSCC MINAS is proud of you and excited to see all you accomplish! ⚓⛵

⚓🤝 Strengthening Partnerships 🤝⚓

On April 26, 2026, 76 RCSCC MINAS had the privilege of attending and supporting the Change of Command Ceremony for the the West Nova Scotia Regiment. Cadets assisted as greeters, helped usher VIPs, and handed out event programs for the ceremony.

As the host of 76 RCSCC MINAS, the The West Nova Scotia Regiment provides our corps with a home at the Fort Edward Armoury, our local headquarters and training location. During the event, cadets presented outgoing Commanding Officer LCol Bobbitt with a ceremonial paddle decorated by cadets as a thank you for his support and leadership.

We would also like to welcome the incoming Commanding Officer and look forward to getting to know them while continuing to build strong relationships between our organizations. Bravo Zulu to all involved! 👏⚓
