🌈 Celebrating Pride Month at Build A Dream

At Build a Dream, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to pursue their goals, explore meaningful careers, and thrive as their authentic selves.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community. We recognize that diverse perspectives, experiences, and identities make our workplaces, industries, and communities stronger. We remain committed to creating spaces where individuals feel seen, valued, supported, and empowered to build futures that reflect who they are.

Because when people can show up authentically, they can dream bigger, achieve more, and help create a more inclusive future for all.
Happy Pride Month. 🌈💜

You belong here.

Connection changes careers. Community changes industries.

Last weekend, Build a Dream proudly co-hosted Dream & Build 2026 alongside The ConnectHER Hub at BCIT, in partnership with the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum, bringing together more than 100 attendees from across skilled trades and STEAM for three days of professional development, connection, and community in Burnaby, BC.

Together, we explored leadership, mentorship, entrepreneurship, workplace wellbeing, financial empowerment, authenticity, and the power of finding and using our voices.

But what made this weekend truly special wasn’t just the sessions, speakers, or workshops.

It was the people.

The tradeswomen who showed up ready to learn and grow.

The allies and advocates committed to creating change.

The mentors who shared their experiences.

The industry leaders who challenged perspectives and inspired new possibilities.

The conversations that happened between sessions.
The connections that were made.
The confidence that was built.

Because professional development is about more than gaining knowledge.

It’s about belonging.

It’s about seeing what’s possible for yourself and your future.

Throughout the weekend, we celebrated the power of collaboration, explored how workplaces can better support women in skilled trades, showcased PPE and workwear designed with women in mind, and created space for honest conversations about the opportunities and challenges facing our industries.

To our co-hosts at The ConnectHER Hub at BCIT, our partners at the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum, our lead supporters BC Hydro, EMC Canada, and eCampusOntario, our speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, volunteers, and attendees—thank you.

Thank you for showing up.
Thank you for sharing your stories.
Thank you for helping create a community where women and gender-diverse individuals can connect, grow, and thrive.

The real impact of Dream & Build won’t be measured by what happened over three days.

It will be measured by the relationships that continue, the confidence that grows, the opportunities that emerge, and the future leaders who move forward because of what started here.

The conversations don’t end here.

And neither does the momentum.

Today, on Canadian Armed Forces Day, we recognize the women who choose a path of courage, service, and leadership.

Many of the skills that drive success in the skilled trades and STEAM industries are the very same skills demonstrated every day by those serving in the Canadian Armed Forces: resilience, teamwork, problem-solving, technical expertise, and an unwavering commitment to something bigger than themselves.

They break barriers, challenge expectations, and prove that strength comes in many forms.

To every woman who has served, is currently serving, or is considering a future in the Canadian Armed Forces: thank you for leading the way and inspiring the next generation to dream bigger, aim higher, and serve with purpose.

We came together as strangers.
We leave as a community.

The weekend may be ending, but the fire we ignited isn’t.

Take the inspiration, the connections, and the confidence you’ve gained this weekend, and use this to kick open doors and take up space.

Carry the torch. 🔥

Go build something extraordinary.

Day 1 of Dream & Build 2026 is in the books, and what a way to kick off the weekend!

Last night was all about connection, collaboration, and community.

From powerful conversations on the importance of working together to create opportunities for women in skilled trades and STEAM, to meaningful networking with industry leaders, exhibitors, partners, and peers, the energy in the room was undeniable.

We heard insights from leaders who are helping shape the future of these industries, celebrated the power of collaboration, explored opportunities through exhibitor connections, and showcased women’s workwear and PPE designed for the women doing the work every day.

But more than anything, tonight was about bringing people together.

Because when women can connect with others who understand their journey, share their experiences, and support one another's growth, something powerful happens.

New relationships are formed.
New opportunities are discovered.
And new possibilities begin to take shape.

Thank you to our speakers, partners, exhibitors, and attendees for helping make Day 1 such an incredible start.

The conversations have started, the connections have been made, and we're just getting started.

Day 2, here we come. 🔥
