West Hants Regional Municipality Office and Facilities Closure for Monday, May 18.

In observance of Victoria Day, the West Hants Municipal Office and work sites will be closed on Monday, May 18.

Please Note:
• The West Hants Sports Complex will be closed this Monday.
• The Windsor Community Centre is open from 9 am - 5 pm.
• For Public Works weekend and after-hours water and sewer emergencies please call: 902-798-7080.
• Waste Collection for Monday is rescheduled to Saturday, May 16.
• The GFL West Hants Landfill will be open Monday, May 18th, with reduced hours of operation - 7:30 am to 1 pm.

Please be advised that the Department of Emergency Management (DEM) will be conducting a test of the Alert Ready system in Nova Scotia on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 1:55 p.m.
This test will be sent province-wide through television, radio, and compatible mobile devices. DEM regularly conducts these tests to ensure the public alerting system is functioning properly in advance of an actual emergency.

West Hants Remembers

West Hants Regional Municipality joins all Nova Scotians in remembering the tragic events of April 18 and 19, 2020.

We hold in our thoughts all those who were lost, and we honour the survivors whose courage and strength continue to inspire us. We also recognize the deep resilience of the families, friends, and communities who have carried this loss forward with care and compassion.

To mark this time of remembrance, we invite you to join us in a moment of silence at noon on Saturday and Sunday. This is a time to remember those we lost, honour those who endured, and reflect together.

Emergency services are currently on scene, and the road will remain closed until it is safe to reopen. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
