Thank YOU to Members of the MHART (Mental Health and Addictions Response Team) for stopping by the Mission from time to time to distribute Naloxone Kits and education as well as provide information about services and be known to the clients of the Mission as people they can trust and get help from in the community!

We at the Downtown Mission are so thankful for and proud of our friends, colleagues and community partners at The Bridge Youth Resource Centre for their Grand Opening of Erie Bridge Homes in Leamington today!

Congratulations and THANK YOU to all who made this possible! THANK YOU for providing new affordable housing for young people and others in our region through this incredible project!!!

As one of their Team shared today, remembering Proverbs 3:5-6 throughout the past 8 years of bringing today to reality was crucial - "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight".

And a special thank you to Bob Bellacico of CTV Windsor for interviewing our wonderful Board Member and Finance Committee Chair, Don Atwell, to hear about what he thought about today’s event and the work being done by The Bridge 🙂

TODAY'S THE LAST DAY!!!

We at the Downtown Mission are so thankful to a local company, GHD Ltd - GHD Group for their innovation and generosity in offering this wonderful donation and gifts to other supporters of the Downtown Mission, The Windsor Youth Centre and Drouillard Place!

Anyone who donates to these 3 Organizations/Programs between Thursday, Oct. 15th and Thursday, Oct. 22nd has a chance to win a beautiful Treat Basket (pictured below) or 1 of 2 $20 Tim Hortons Gift Cards when they make a Donation and guess how many legos are in the Jar (pictured below as well).

Anyone who'd like to participate is encouraged to make a guess in person at the Mission or the WYC when you make a donation (financial or gift-in-kind).

💙 Your Compassion Changes Lives. Thank You, Windsor-Essex💙
Every day, because of the incredible generosity of our community, lives are being transformed with hope, opportunity, and a fresh start.

Last month, together, we celebrated:
🎓 4 graduates from our Phoenix Recovery Program, who have taken courageous steps toward lasting recovery. The Phoenix Recovery Program is partially funded by Windsor-Essex Ontario Health Team!

💼 13 individuals were recruited for our next Enterprise Training Session in the hopes to help them secure Jobs and have further stabilized their lives. The Enterprise Job Training Program is partially funded by Employment Ontario through the City of Windsor - Municipal Government

🏠 6 individuals who moved into safe, stable housing and are beginning a new chapter in their lives (4 from the Phoenix Program and 2 from Housing Information Services).

These milestones represent more than numbers - they represent people who have overcome obstacles, embraced new opportunities, and are building brighter futures.

To our donors, volunteers, community partners, and everyone who believes in the mission of restoring hope and dignity: thank you. Your generosity provides more than meals and shelter - it opens doors to recovery, employment, housing, and lasting change.

Every gift, every hour volunteered, and every act of kindness makes a difference.

Together, we are helping our neighbours move from crisis to stability and from uncertainty to hope.

Bench Talks is a 24-hour awareness and fundraising event hosted by the Downtown Mission of Windsor, bringing together community leaders, businesses, artists, volunteers, speakers, donors, and residents to learn, connect, and take action on homelessness, housing insecurity, food insecurity, mental health, and youth homelessness in Windsor-Essex.

We at the Downtown Mission were so saddened to hear about the passing of Jonathan Foster, someone in our Community we considered a Leader in compassion and healthcare and a true friend - https://www.reidfuneralhome.ca/obituaries/Jonathan-Foster?obId=49902372

Jonathan was a great mentor and support to many of us, working with our Team years ago when we partnered with Windsor Regional Hospital on the Mission Navigator Program at the Hospital and through the years since in so many other ways.

To all Jonathan's friends, family and coworkers, we send you our sincerest condolences and we pray that your memories of Jonathan will take you through this very difficult time of loss! We promise you, we will do all we can, to keep his memory and all that we worked with him on here at the Mission going on, to do all that we can to keep our community safe and well, striving for betterment and growth as we believe he would want us to continue doing!!!

An URGENT Request from our Programs & Shelter Team for our Day/Overnight Shelter Program - we need Men's Jogging Pants with the cold weather upon us! Jeans or any Casual Pants (new or gently used, sizes Med - XL) would be appreciated as well!!!

We have none left unfortunately with last week's weather and Guests' needs wiping us out of all we had reserved for the start of the Fall. Please help if you can by dropping off any gently used pairs of pants you don't need/want anymore or purchased new ones (bring your receipt if you do to get a Donation Tax Receipt for your purchase if you would want one).

Please drop off to 875 Ouellette Ave between 9 am and 8 pm any day or if you prefer to order online and have delivered to us, feel free to do so to 875 Ouellette Ave, Windsor/ON, N9A 4J6 (Attention Shelter Team).

During the month of September, because of the incredible generosity of our donors, supporters, volunteers, and community partners, the Downtown Mission was able to provide safe shelter, nutritious meals and compassionate care to our community's most vulnerable neighbours - you helped us provide:
- 4,041 days of Shelter
- 12,646 nutritious meals
- 2,245 nights of shelter

💙 Every donation, every act of kindness, and every show of support helped ensure that individuals experiencing homelessness had a warm place to be or sleep, access to nutritious meals and essential services, and hope for a brighter future!
