Little Free Library 41944 Little Free Library #41944 opened in April, 2017. Take a book, leave a book. And feel free to write or draw on the library's chalkboard walls.

Our library had a rough day yesterday. As a result of a combination of high winds and a partially rotted post, the library suffered some damage to its door, and eventually fell over.

It’s going to need a few repairs and some TLC (some of which was probably overdue), but we’re going to do our best to get it fixed up and back in operation, as soon as time and our schedules allow.

We know the library has a number of regular visitors, and we look forward to being able to see you again soon 🙂

Winnipeg Friends!
We are hosting a Fringe performer with us and he came home last night feeling pretty yuck because his bike had just been stolen at the Exchange. Apparently, it's the third bike he's had stolen here in Winnipeg. =(

I am wondering if anyone has an old bike kicking around in their garage... one that works well, but that you're not too attached to, that you wouldn't mind if an artist borrowed for a couple of weeks. We could pick it up and bring it back to you after the Fringe (end of July), but we can't guarantee that it won't be stolen... so, yeah, that's why you shouldn't be too attached to it.

At Little Free Library 41944, accessibility is very important to us.

While we haven't always been great over the last while updating the page, or refreshing the books (we didn't even get any holiday books out this year :( ), we do our best to keep the sidewalk and boulevard clear of snow in the winter.

To be honest, I started clearing the whole boulevard and curb in front of our house primarily to improve accessibility for our family, guests and neighbours; by the New Year, the snow on the boulevards in Winnipeg can get piled pretty high, making it hard to get out of the passenger side of a vehicle.

Now that we have the Library, part of what motivates me over the hour or two it takes to move all the snow, is the knowledge that I'm making the experience of visiting our library that much easier and more pleasant, regardless of what time of year you visit.

So remember: Whether you walk, take the bus, come by car or even cycle (yes, some of us do that in Winnipeg in the winter), our Little Library is here to welcome you with open arms...and cleared snow ;)

We're very excited that TOMORROW is the start of this year's Winnipeg Fringe Festival! It's always fun to see something new, and see what's going on at the outdoor stage.

We're very fortunate to have as our guests Valerie and Jeff of new best friend, who will be performing their show, "Today, For Now" at Venue 9, the School of Contemporary Dancers.

We are also excited that our very own Sherri, and her friend Heather (otherwise known as Girls with Pie) will be performing their show "Dreams Catch Her" at Venue 11, at Red River College downtown campus.

Sherri is also performing in Real Live Entertainment's "Blue Horses" at Venue 22, MTYP's Richardson Hall at The Forks. This is a light, fun show, which is great for kids, and kids at heart. Around here, I've been helping Sherri run lines for a while now, so I know what I'm talking about ;)

If you've never been to The Fringe, you really should check it out, If you've been there before, then you know what I'm talking about.

If you do go to The Fringe, please lets us know what you saw, and what you thought of it. We'll do our best to do the same!

The Snack Shack will be opening tomorrow for the first time! If you are heading to Assiniboine Park for the Teddy Bears Picnic, stop by on your way there or your way home to purchase a treat from our young business adventurers! We are just a couple of blocks away and you can visit the library at the same time!

Did a little tidying in the library this afternoon. We've had a surprising number of books come and go over the winter, and we've sometimes been a little behind in sorting through and organizing the collection.

We dug into our cache of books, and managed to find a few kids books that seemed suited for spring. We also added a couple of fresh books to the fiction shelf, and one to the non-fiction shelf.

I think we all feel like a family of bears emerging from hibernation around here; it's been a long winter. You'll probably see a little more activity in the library and on this page in the weeks to come.

We're looking forward to meeting some new people at the library this spring :)

Despite the cold temperatures, there has still been a number of visitors to the library, so we've been trying our best to check in and keep things a bit fresh.

Last week, we put out some magazines for the kids, some Chirp, Chickadee and Owl. And today, while I was out shoveling, I added a couple of kids books for Valentines Day, and a few more books for the fiction shelf.

The snow is shoveled in front of the library, the bench and the boulevard, so why not put on that touque and those mitts and drop by for a visit! :)
