Happy Pride Month from Life’s Journey 🌈

We are so excited to celebrate love, identity, and the incredible strength of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Pride is all about showing up as your true self and creating spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported. That is something we are proud to stand for every single day.

We are especially excited to be part of the Winnipeg Pride Parade tomorrow, June 7. If you are there, keep an eye out for the Life’s Journey banner and come say hi! We can't wait to celebrate with you. Happy Pride!

June marks National Indigenous History Month, a time to celebrate the diverse cultures, languages, traditions, and achievements of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.

This month invites us to learn from Indigenous voices, recognize the lasting contributions Indigenous Peoples have made and continue to make, and reflect on our collective responsibility to advance reconciliation.

We encourage everyone to take time this month to explore Indigenous histories, stories, and cultures, and to support Indigenous artists, creators, businesses, and communities.

May 31 to June 6 marks National AccessAbility Week, a time to recognize and celebrate the contributions of people with disabilities while reflecting on how we can build a more inclusive and accessible Manitoba together. It is an opportunity to celebrate progress, raise awareness, and continue working toward communities where everyone can fully participate.

Mental Health Awareness Month is coming to a close, but the conversation doesn’t end here.

As May wraps up, it is a reminder that mental health matters every day and is part of how we live, connect, and support one another. This month encourages us to talk more openly, reduce stigma, and check in with ourselves and the people around us.

Mental health affects how we think, feel, and connect. Some days are easier than others, and that is something many of us share. Carrying this forward means continuing those conversations, taking care of ourselves in ways that feel right, and reaching out or offering support when it is needed.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out. Support is always here, and it matters every day of the year.

Today is Service and Therapy Animal Day, and we’re giving a well‑deserved shoutout to one of our favourites, Squeaker.

Through the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program, Squeaker continues to visit homes across our Residential Program, bringing calm, comfort, and, of course, plenty of cuddles. It’s safe to say these visits are always a highlight.

Therapy animals like Squeaker have a way of making connection feel easy. They help people relax, build trust, and create moments of calm that can go a long way, especially during more challenging times.

We’re grateful to have Squeaker as part of our community and for all the small, meaningful moments they bring with them.

This week we recognize the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT), a time to raise awareness about discrimination faced by 2SLGBTQ+ communities around the world.

It is also a reminder of the importance of kindness, understanding and creating spaces where everyone feels they belong.

We remain committed to fostering a culture of respect, inclusion and support so everyone can feel safe to be themselves. 🏳️‍🌈

Life's Journey was honoured to attend the recent launch of MyRightsMatter.ca, an accessible website created by people with disabilities, for people with disabilities.

Through real stories, videos, and interactive learning, the site helps people better understand their rights, build confidence in self‑advocacy, and navigate everyday decisions. It’s a thoughtful and empowering resource shaped by lived experience.

Thank you to St.Amant and partners for their leadership in bringing this important work forward. We’re proud to support and share this resource with our community.

Today is International Harm Reduction Day. Harm reduction is important because people deserve care and safety, no matter where they are in their lives. It saves lives by reducing the risk of overdose and preventable illness, and by offering practical, evidence‑based support instead of judgment or punishment.

At Life’s Journey, harm reduction guides how we show up for the people we work alongside. It means building trust, treating people with dignity, and recognizing that everyone has value and the right to make choices about their own life. For many, harm reduction is the first step toward feeling respected, supported, and connected.

Today, we honour the lives saved through harm reduction and the people who rely on it every day. This work matters because people matter.
