As we look ahead to Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Manitoba Indigenous Reconciliation Secretariat for their support through the Orange Shirt Day Fund.

Orange Shirt Day is an important opportunity to honour Survivors, remember those who never returned home, and reflect on the ongoing journey of reconciliation. Their generous contribution helps make our annual event possible and creates space for learning, reflection, and meaningful conversations within our community.

We are grateful for their commitment to supporting initiatives that advance awareness, understanding, and reconciliation.

Overdose Awareness Day is an opportunity to remember those we have lost, honour their stories, and recognize the impact overdose continues to have on individuals, families, and communities. It is also a time to challenge stigma and encourage conversations rooted in compassion, understanding, and hope.

Access to harm reduction resources, including naloxone, education, treatment, and recovery supports, can help save lives and connect people with the care they need. By raising awareness and supporting one another, we can help create safer communities where no one has to face these challenges alone.💜

September is FASD Awareness Month, a time to learn, listen, share, and build greater understanding of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. It's an opportunity to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and reflect on the importance of community in helping individuals with FASD feel supported, valued, and included.

This year's theme, "Everyone Plays a Part: It Takes a Community," reminds us that support comes from many places. Families, friends, educators, employers, service providers, neighbours, and community members all help create spaces where individuals with FASD and their families can belong and thrive.

Throughout September, we'll be sharing information, resources, and local initiatives in recognition of FASD Awareness Month and FASD Awareness Day on September 9.

Join us as we continue the conversation, grow our understanding, and help raise awareness throughout the month.

One of our favourite things about summer in Winnipeg? Folkorama!

With Folklorama happening across the city right now, we're looking back at our own celebration from last year, hosted by our Participant Advisory Committee and the Drop-In.

For an afternoon, we explored the culture, history, food, and traditions of Ukraine, Mexico, and the Philippines. There was music playing, lots of great conversations, fun activities, and plenty of opportunities to learn something new.

These photos capture just a small piece of the day, but they remind us how special it is when people come together to share their stories, experiences, and cultures.

Our team is excited to be hosting an all-day Camping Event today for staff and participants! As we head out for a day of spending time outdoors, connecting, and enjoying each other's company, we're sharing a few photos from a camping trip earlier this season.

It's been a great summer so far, and we're grateful for every opportunity to connect, enjoy the outdoors, and create meaningful experiences together.

Our Westman team recently came together to celebrate two special occasions: our annual Staff Appreciation event and our organization's 20th Anniversary.

The day was all about recognizing the dedication, compassion, and hard work of the employees who make a difference every day in the lives of the people we support. It was also a chance to reflect on 20 years of service and the incredible people who have helped shape our organization along the way.

Staff enjoyed an afternoon of bowling, friendly competition, great food, prizes, and plenty of laughter. The celebration brought colleagues together from across our Westman locations to relax, have fun, and spend time with one another outside of their daily routines.

We were also proud to recognize team members celebrating 5 and 10 years of service. Their commitment and contributions have made a lasting impact on our organization and the communities we serve.

As we celebrate 20 years, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to every member of our team. Your passion, dedication, and care are at the heart of everything we do, and we're grateful for all that you bring to our organization each day.

Thank you for helping make this milestone year so meaningful. Here's to our amazing team and the years ahead!
