Adoption Options Manitoba

Earlier this week, our Executive Director, Julie Despaties, met with Deputy Minister of Families Michelle Dubik, Assistant Deputy Minister Tina Moody, and Minister Fontaine’s Chief of Staff, Alex Krosney, to discuss the importance of strengthening support for families across Manitoba.

Our conversation emphasized the need for kinship and customary caregivers to be included in the new 15-week EI attachment leave provisions as part of a full continuum of care. Ensuring equitable access to this leave would provide newly formed families with the stability, bonding time, and employment protections they need during their first year together.

We also raised awareness about the impact of on families and reinforced the importance of early intervention and family support in helping to prevent disruptions and strengthen permanency outcomes.
