Tomorrow is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and here are some events and activities that will take place on September 30th, 2026.

6th Annual Orange Shirt Day Healing Walk and Pow Wow
This free, family-friendly outdoor event begins with an opening ceremony at the Oodena Circle at The Forks, followed by a healing walk toward the Canada Life Centre, and concludes with a gathering and powwow.
Opening Ceremony at 9:30 AM
Pow Wow Grand Entry at 1:00 PM

Fort Whyte Alive Truth and Reconciliation Experience
Daytime Indigenous-led programs and outdoor experiences dedicated to expanding knowledge of local history and culture.
Time: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Venue: Fort Whyte Alive at 1961 McCreary Road

Manitoba Museum
To honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the Manitoba Museum is pleased to provide free entry to the Museum Galleries, Science Gallery, and Planetarium from Wednesday, September 30 to Friday, October 2. The museum will feature special, all-day programming focused on the history of Indian Residential Schools and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Calls to Action.

Our annual 'A Walk in King's Park' program will take place on Sunday, September 27th from 3:00-4:00pm. We will meet on the hill in front of the main parking lot. We'll have fun playing games and singing in the fresh air before going on a nature hike. This is a drop in program and registration is not required. We'll see you at King's Park!

It's raining and pouring this morning so unfortunately we are cancelling our 'Together We Play' program. We hope you have a wonderful day! Don't forget about our outdoor 'A Walk in King's Park happening Sunday, Sept 27th from 3:00-4:00pm at King's Park

Just a reminder that our outdoor program, 'Together We Play' runs even during a light rain. Also, we are not able to use the staff parking lot and the parking lot gate will be closed. Please note that we will not have access to washrooms during this program. Families are welcome to come and go during the program time from 10:00-11:30am and do not have to stay until the end. We hope you'll join us for fresh air and fun!

Jump on over to our Richmond Jumping Gym Time program this morning from 9:45-11:30am at the Richmond Community Centre. Participants need to have indoor shoes to change into and water bottles are always a good item to have during the program.

Thursday mornings can be tricky because we have two great family centre options.
Our Waverley Family Centre is open from 9:45-11:30am at the South Winnipeg Community Centre-Waverley Site while our Parc La Salle Family Centre is open from 9:45-11:30am at the Parc La Salle school.
Please bring indoor shoes and water bottles.
