Volunteer Manitoba

Volunteer Manitoba Building Community, Building Capacity To meet those needs, we offer an extensive selection of workshops which we’ve organized into 3 signature series:
1.

Programs & Services

Training Services

We recognize that non-profits and charities sometimes require training that is specific to their needs. Organization Development
2. Volunteer Management
3. Board Development & Leadership

These workshops are held throughout the year, and are delivered in Winnipeg and in rural communities across Manitoba. We also offer Customized Training for individual organ

izations – which could be anything from facilitating a strategic planning session for staff or board, bringing one of our packaged workshops to your organization, or delivering a training session on a unique topic - developed specifically for your organization. Our workshop calendar can be found online at www.volunteermanitoba.ca

Referral Service

We are very pleased to offer our free referral and outreach service, which matches individuals who have an interest in volunteering with agencies who are seeking volunteers. Every week, agencies across Manitoba forward us information about available volunteer opportunities within their organizations, which we then share with the public. These volunteer opportunities are uploaded to our website, where individuals can search by region and category and apply directly through our website. Individuals who are interested in volunteering and would like assistance with their search have the opportunity to book a ½ hour consultation with a staff member to determine their skills sets and interests. We then assist them in finding a position that best matches what they are looking for. Interviews and screening processes are performed by the agencies directly. Through our Community Outreach activities, we are able to connect with Manitobans on the benefits of volunteerism. We attend outreach events throughout Manitoba and also visit with classrooms, community groups and organizations to deliver presentations on community engagement and how to find the right volunteer opportunity.

From north to south, east to west ~ Volunteer Manitoba has been hitting the road and connecting with communities across Manitoba!

From the charm of rural towns like Neepawa and Lac du Bonnet, to the rolling prairie communities of Brandon, Killarney, Boissevain-Morton, Minnedosa, and Swan River — every stop has reminded us of the incredible power of community.

We’ve shared meaningful conversations with youth through school presentations that sparked discussions about the importance of volunteering, hosted Volunteer Fairs that brought community members and nonprofit organizations together to ignite engagement and led Volunteer Management information sessions that inspired new ideas.

These communities are filled with incredible people whose dedication continue to create lasting impact in Manitoba!

Volunteering is for anyone, everyone, and anywhere!

Volunteer this summer to keep community programs running and strengthen our community. 💪

Local organizations rely on volunteers to deliver programs, host events, and support the people who need it most.

Without volunteers, many essential services simply wouldn’t exist.

When people give their time, they help by supporting the organizations that strengthen our community. That’s why volunteering matters, it keeps our community moving forward.

We are continuing our Meet a Board Member series with Stefanie Books from !

We asked what does serving on a board mean to them...

Stefanie: 💬 In my current role with Youville, it’s about contributing to systems that support collective well-being, advancing health equity, upholding dignity, and supporting healing through the work of the board. 💬

Her advice for anyone considering a board role? Be curious. Ask questions. And don’t underestimate the value of your perspective.

Small Moments, Big Community Impact!

Micro-volunteering is about small acts that create big impact. Perfect for anyone looking to give back in flexible, short-term ways with no long-term commitment.

Whether it’s supporting a sports event, contributing to a sustainable project, or helping at a music festival there are many “one-off” or short-term ways you can get involved in your community while still enjoying your spring & summer adventures, friends, and downtime.

A few hours can make someone’s day — and yours!

🚨 NEW WORKSHOP ALERT 🚨

We’re diving into one of the most important (and often tricky) relationships in the nonprofit world:

The Board + Executive Director partnership 🤝

Whether you’re onboarding your first ED or trying to strengthen your current dynamic, this session will give you practical tools to work better together.

Because when the Board + ED relationship is strong… everything else gets easier.

Spots are limited; you can save your Zoom seat by clicking here: https://volunteermanitoba.arlo.co/w/events/62-working-with-your-executive-director/162

Last week our ED hit the road again, travelling out to Brandon to host an Executive Director’s Networking Luncheon for nonprofit leaders from across the Westman region!

It's always great to spend time with fellow nonprofit leaders to hear first-hand about the challenges and opportunities that exist in our communities. At Volunteer Manitoba we love nothing more than building relationships and supporting the people who are doing such amazing work in their communities every single day 💛

A big thanks to our friends at RBC for their support in bringing these initiatives to communities all across Manitoba!

And, of course, thanks to everyone who joined us! We are already looking forward to our next visit.

WHAT A NIGHT!! 🤩

We’re still glowing after last week’s 42nd Annual Volunteer Awards.

What an incredible, heartwarming evening celebrating the people who make our communities stronger every single day.

To all of this year’s award recipients — congratulations! Your passion, generosity, and commitment to others truly make Manitoba a better place. And to every nominee, volunteer, and community champion in the room: thank you for the impact you create every day.

We’re also deeply grateful to our sponsors and partners who helped bring this special evening to life. Your support ensures we can continue to recognize and celebrate volunteerism across
our province.

Our hearts are full — and we’re already looking forward to next year 💙
