Belonging doesn't have an age limit.

Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, valued, and connected throughout every stage of life.

On World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, we recognize the importance of creating communities where older adults are heard, supported, and included. A simple conversation, a visit, or a check-in can make a meaningful difference.

Together, we can help ensure everyone feels seen, supported, and that they truly belong.

🌿 The Gratitude Jar

Belonging doesn’t always show up in big, obvious ways.

Sometimes it’s in the small moments:
• someone checking in
• a conversation that felt a little easier
• a space where you didn’t feel like you had to explain yourself

This week, try noticing those moments.

Write down one small experience each day where you felt even a little more connected.

At the end of the week, take a moment to read them back.

You might notice belonging showing up more than you thought.

You don’t have to feel like you “fit” to start belonging.

Sometimes belonging begins before it feels real.

It starts with:
• showing up anyway
• staying a little longer
• letting yourself be seen — even just a bit

It might feel unfamiliar at first.

That doesn’t mean you don’t belong there.

Belonging doesn’t mean you have to share everything.

It can start with simply being in a space where others understand — even if you’re just listening.

Tool for Thriving: The “Low-Pressure Check-In”

When reaching out feels like too much, try this:

Send a simple message:
• “Hey, thinking of you”
• “Want to hang out?”
• “No pressure, just checking in”

How it helps:
It lowers the pressure of connection — making it easier to stay connected without needing the “perfect” moment.

Connection doesn’t have to be big to matter.

There’s more than one way to connect.

You don’t have to open up all at once.

You don’t have to share everything.

You can:
• start small
• take your time
• choose what feels safe

Belonging doesn’t require rushing.

Connection can refill your cup, too.

Not the overwhelming kind.

Not the kind that drains your energy.

The gentle kind.

A short conversation.

A shared moment.

A feeling of being understood — even a little.

This Friday, consider one small way to feel a bit more connected.

That’s enough.

You don’t stop belonging when you struggle.

You don’t lose your place when things get hard.

You don’t have to disappear until you feel “better.”

You’re allowed to stay connected — even in the middle of it.

Belonging means not having to explain who you are to feel accepted.

It means being able to exist — fully, openly, and safely.

This Pride Month, we’re reminded that inclusive spaces don’t happen by accident.

They’re created through care, intention, and a commitment to making room for everyone.
