Throughout June, we honour the stories, knowledge, resilience, and achievements of Indigenous Peoples across Manitoba and Canada.

National Indigenous History Month is an opportunity to deepen our understanding, celebrate diverse cultures, and recognize the lasting impact of Indigenous communities on the places we call home.

By learning from the past and supporting one another in the present, we can help build a more inclusive future for everyone.

On World Hunger Day, we recognize the impact food insecurity has on families and communities around the world. It is a reminder that everyone should have access to nutritious food.

Across Manitoba, many individuals continue to face challenges putting food on the table. With continued support, we can help strengthen access to food and ensure more people feel supported and cared for in their communities.

This marked the second session of our Pizza Garden workshop series! 🍕🌱

Food bank clients came out to learn gardening skills and plant their own “pizza tubs” filled with peppers, onions, tomatoes, spinach, and basil. Participants took their tubs home and will spend the summer growing the ingredients themselves.

Stay tuned for August when they’ll return for a pizza cooking lesson and they’ll use their grown veggies as toppings on their own homemade pizzas! 🍅🫑🌿

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Tova Vickar, a remarkable woman whose compassion and commitment to helping others touched countless lives across Manitoba and far beyond.

Together, Tova and her husband Larry dedicated themselves to uplifting people in need through acts of kindness and extraordinary philanthropy. Their support helped provide hope, dignity, shelter, education, and food security for people both in our community and around the world.

Tova believed deeply in caring for others and giving back. Her legacy will live on in the many lives she helped change and in the stronger, more benevolent community she helped build.

On behalf of everyone at Harvest Manitoba, we extend our condolences to Larry and the entire Vickar family during this difficult time.

Manitoba has lost a truly exceptional woman. ❤️
