Last night’s A Night in Blue gala at the CMHR was a beautiful event for an incredibly important cause.

Hearing from CEO Christy
Dzikowicz and the remarkable program staff was a highlight of the evening. I know Manitobans are incredibly grateful for Christy and her amazing team. They work tirelessly every day to ensure children and their families navigating the horror of child abuse get the coordinated care, support, and healing they deserve.

A huge thank you to everyone who bid in the auctions, wore their best blues, and to the for their incredible support of this vital cause. October is Child Abuse Awareness Month: let’s keep standing up for kids all month long. 💙

The Roblin Park Fall Festival last week was an absolute blast, and it wouldn’t have been possible without our incredible community showing up. From slinging snacks in the canteen for movie night to testing our brains at trivia night with friends, it was a weekend full of laughs, connection, and community.

A massive THANK YOU to all the volunteers who poured their time and energy into making this festival a success. Our neighborhood is truly something special because of people like you! 🫶❤️

In May 2025, the NDP Health Minister promised to lower ER wait times by at least an hour. 18 months later here’s the reality:

•ER wait times: at new record highs
•90th percentile wait time: Up to 12.9 hrs
• Peak waits: 11-15 hours across the city

The 90th percentile stat means that 9 out of 10 patients are waiting up to 13 hours to be seen, while 1 in 10 wait even longer. These aren’t just numbers on a spreadsheet - these are Manitobans waiting in severe pain and fear, and front line nurses are telling media “It’s the worst it’s ever been”.

Why is it that the longer the NDP are in charge, the worse ER wait times get?

100 years of campfires, community, adventure and helping young people find their confidence! 🏕️

Today in the Chamber, I was proud to recognize the 100th anniversary of the 60th Winnipeg Scout Group, a Charleswood institution that has been helping build character and community for a century.

A special congratulations to Scouter Yvonne Kyle, who has given an incredible 44+ years to Scouting and was recognized with the Governor General’s Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers. Her dedication to making sure every young person feels welcome and supported is truly inspiring.

The 60th’s story is also a story of community. For 80 of its 100 years, the Royal Canadian Legion Charleswood Branch 100 has been a steadfast partner, alongside organizations like Roblin Park Community Centre.

A century is an incredible milestone, and it’s a testament to the Scouters, volunteers, families, community partners and young people who have kept the 60th going generation after generation.

Congratulations to the entire 60th Winnipeg Scout Group on 100 years of making a difference in our community. Here’s to the next century! 🎉

Shouting about generic “new spaces” somewhere else doesn’t help the Charleswood constituents losing their support system today.

Today in the legislature, when pressed on the closure of the Charleswood Adult Day Club, the government’s response was to shout that they are opening spots elsewhere. That completely misses the point - and ignores the reality for seniors and their families, where routine is critical and change can be deeply disruptive.

Forcing vulnerable seniors to uproot, scramble, or travel outside their home community is not a solution. Seniors and their families deserve more than defensive talking points; they deserve to keep the care they rely on right here in Charleswood.

It’s time to stop the deflection, protect established local care, and keep the Charleswood Adult Day Club open.

I’m honoured to speak about Seniors Month today; it’s the perfect time to pause, reflect, and express our deep gratitude to the older adults who have built, shaped, and enriched our community.

A vital part of what makes our community thrive is the incredible network of spaces that keep our seniors active, connected, and supported. We owe a tremendous thank you to local hubs like the Charleswood Active Living Centre and the Headingley Services to Seniors. Through their dedication, programs, and welcoming spaces, they combat isolation, foster lifelong friendships, and ensure our seniors continue to live vibrant, engaged lives.

It’s also important to be honest about the need for improved supports to enable seniors to live as independently as possible in their communities. Too many Manitobans aren’t able to access quality home care services. The upcoming closure of the Charleswood Adult Day Program is going to have a terrible impact on families in our community. Seniors in our communities deserve more than just talk - they deserve to know the services they’ve spent their lives paying for will be there when they need them.

We were so inspired meeting and hearing the stories of our Manitoba athletes who redefine dedication and joy every single day.

We also got to meet NHL legend and longtime supporter Ted Irvine - did you know he founded Special Olympics Manitoba?!

Thank you to everyone who came out to lift up our local athletes! 🙌❤️

Crisp fall air, front porches showing off their best autumn decor, and the occasional sign that says exactly what the homeowner is thinking. 😄 (And no...we didn’t knock on that door!)

Good conversations, good neighbours, and a good reminder of why getting out and talking to people is one of my favorite parts of the job.
