Join us on Canada Day starting at 2:00pm at the Birds Hill Park Beach for a barbecue and get-together! We plan to stay until 8:00pm the earliest, and we’ll provide hotdogs, drinks and snacks.

Please RSVP by email to [email protected] by 11:59pm on Tuesday the 30th, so we know how much food to purchase. If you RSVP late, no guarantees we’ll have enough for you. All UMCC members are welcome.

Specific location will be shared the morning of Canada Day.

Thank you to those who took time out of their busy pre-finals schedules to come out for out AGM yesterday! We had some excellent discussions about what the club has done over the past year, and where we should go next. Major topics included more recurring and informal events, improvements to our social media and photography, as well as increasing membership engagement.

Elections results were announced, and the 2026-27 executive was sworn in at the AGM, namely:

President: Alex Rogers
Vice-President: Nic Spenst
Director of Finance: Kai Jassal
Director of Membership: Malachi Goertzen
Director of External Relations: C**t Campbell
Director of Communications: Nik Demarin

The UMCC will be hosting its AGM on Tuesday, March 31st, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, in Room 220 (Hanley Hall) in St. Paul’s College.

We will reveal the election results, review the state of the club after this past year and discuss our plans for next year. This is the best time to give your suggestions for the club could be improved and what you would like to see from it going forwards.

As always, there will be food and soft drinks.

Thank you again to everyone who came out to our first-ever debate, which was a solid success. It was certainly more of a collegial discussion, than a bona fide debate, it was a valuable discussion nonetheless.

Join us for an open debate night, with our main topic being: Do we need UMSU? with Kai Jassal leading the affirmative, and Alex Rogers leading the negative.

Event starts at 5:30pm, and will run until 7:30pm, at Room 207 of Robson Hall.

Pizza and soft drinks will be served, as always.

We had a great evening with MP James Bezan, Shadow Minister for National Defence and MP for Selkirk-Interlake-Eastman, and our thanks go out to him again. Our question and answer session ranged across a wide variety of defence related topics, from the Arctic to cyberspace.

Join us for an excellent evening of discussion with MP James Bezan, Conservative Shadow Minister for National Defence and long-time MP for Selkirk-Interlake-Eastman! We will be talking about the state of the Canadian Armed Forces, the Conservative plan to strengthen them and what Canada’s role on the world stage should be.

The event will be Wednesday, February 18th, starting at 5:30pm, and will run until 7:30pm, at VW Social Club on the 300 level of University Centre.

Food and appetizers will be provided, as always.
