Man wanted for property offences in Winnipeg and Headingley, taken into custody: C26-192127

Update:

41-year-old, Jesse Troy LAFRENIERE, wanted on an outstanding warrant has been arrested.

On August 18, 2026, the Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit (MIVOAU), with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, located LAFRENIERE in the Northeast area of the city. Following a brief foot chase, he was taken into custody and has been charged with 25 offences related to break and enter, theft, possession of stolen property, failing to comply with conditions of court orders and possession of a controlled substance.

He has been detained in custody.

As previously released:

A Major Crimes Unit investigation into a series of commercial break-ins, vehicle thefts, and property crimes throughout Winnipeg and the RM of Headingley has resulted in the arrest of one suspect and an outstanding warrant for a second. Property valued at approximately $140,000 was stolen during the incidents.

Between April 20 and June 28, 2026, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to 13 incidents involving stolen licence plates, stolen vehicles, commercial break-ins, and thefts throughout Winnipeg and the RM of Headingley. Investigators determined that stolen vehicles and stolen licence plates were used during many of the offences, and that the suspects frequently wore disguises to conceal their identities. Property valued at approximately $140,000 was stolen, including trailers, lawn equipment, mechanical equipment, motorcycles, bicycles, and a vehicle.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed responsibility for the investigations and identified two suspects believed to be involved, Justin Andrew HANSON (35) and Jesse Troy LAFRENIERE (41). Both suspects were wearing Electronic Monitoring Bracelets during the incidents.

On August 4, 2026, officers located HANSON operating a vehicle in the 100 block of Clonard Avenue and attempted a traffic stop to take him into custody. HANSON fled at a high rate of speed before abandoning the vehicle on foot and was arrested shortly after.

Later that day, Investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Stranmillis Avenue and the 100 block of Strauss Drive. Property stolen during a break in, as well as a rifle, ammunition, and lock cutter were seized.

HANSON (35) has been charged with 22 criminal code charges ranging from break and enter, theft, failing to comply with court orders, weapons charges, and possession of stolen property. He was detained in custody.

An arrest warrant has been issued for 41-year-old Jesse Troy LAFRENIERE

MISSING PERSON – JOSHUA PAUL - C260203224
The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a missing 36-year-old, JOSHUA PAUL.

PAUL was last seen on August 15th, 2026 at 12:00pm in the Centennial neighbourhood of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

PAUL is described as 5’6” in height, Thin build, with Brown hair and Blue eyes. PAUL was last seen possibly wearing dark coloured hoodie, dark coloured sweatpants and carrying a blue backpack.

The Winnipeg Police Service is concerned for PAUL’s well-being and is asking anyone with any information regarding their whereabouts to contact the Manitoba Integrated Missing Persons Coordination Centre (MIMPCC) at 204-986-6250.

Fi****ms trafficking investigation results in significant seizures and charges: R26-22046

A months-long Fi****ms Enforcement Unit (FEU) investigation into the trafficking of prohibited fi****ms has resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of fi****ms, prohibited devices, co***ne, cash, vehicles, and other property, with a combined estimated value of $278,500. Several individuals have been charged with a variety of fi****ms trafficking, fi****ms possession, drug trafficking, proceeds of crime, and breach-related offences.

In early March 2026, the FEU launched an investigation into the trafficking of prohibited fi****ms. Working alongside the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), investigators identified several suspects and addresses connected to the sale of prohibited fi****ms and firearm parts.

On August 11, 2026, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team (TST), Drone Unit, Canine Unit (K9), Organized Crime Unit, Guns, Gangs and Drug Enforcement Unit, Central and East District Community Support Units, and CBSA investigators, FEU executed search warrants in the 1–99 block of Maryland Street, the 100 block of Aubert Street, and the 100 block of Belton Street.

Investigators seized a .22 calibre rifle with ammunition, a .38 calibre handgun, a 5.56 calibre assault rifle, and three G***k auto-sears. In addition, investigators seized approximately 513 grams of co***ne (Estimated Street Value: $43,500), approximately $77,000 CAD in currency, a money counter, as well as vehicles, e-bikes, and other property with a combined estimated value of approximately $158,000.

During the search warrants, several individuals were taken into custody.

Cameron Kane HENDERSON (21) has been charged with numerous fi****ms trafficking, fi****ms possession, drug trafficking, and proceeds of crime offences. He was detained in custody.

Andrew Dennis HENDERSON (24) has been charged with numerous fi****ms possession, drug trafficking, proceeds of crime, and court order violation offences. He was detained in custody.

Ian Jacob GREENE (19) has been charged with fi****ms possession, proceeds of crime, and fi****ms storage-related offences. He was detained in custody.

Rhiannon Quinn ROBSON (43) has been charged with drug trafficking, proceeds of crime, and breach-related offences, in addition to several outstanding warrants. She was detained in custody.

Kyle Neal SWAMPY (34) has been charged with drug trafficking, proceeds of crime, and breach-related offences, in addition to several outstanding warrants, including a warrant for robbery with a firearm. He was detained in custody.

Haily Roberta ROBSON (23) has been charged with drug trafficking and proceeds of crime offences. She was released on an Undertaking.

An 18-year-old woman is facing numerous fi****ms possession, proceeds of crime, and fi****ms storage-related offences. She was detained in custody.

A 23-year-old woman is facing numerous fi****ms possession, firearm storage, drug trafficking, and proceeds of crime offences. She was released on an Undertaking.

Illegal fi****ms pose a significant risk to community safety. The Fi****ms Enforcement Unit continues to target those involved in the trafficking and distribution of prohibited weapons.

Hit & Run collision involving child leads to arrest: C26-201391

A 29-year-old man has been arrested following a hit and run collision that seriously injured a school-aged child in West Kildonan on August 13, 2026.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received a report that a 2025 Dodge Ram had struck a child riding a bicycle in the 500 block of North Point Boulevard. Dispatched North District General Patrol officers along with officers from the Traffic Division learned that the child had been transported to hospital in unstable condition for injuries sustained from the collision and later upgraded to stable.

Investigators determined that the child had been riding a bicycle on a sidewalk in front of a housing complex, when they were struck by the front bumper of a Dodge Ram as it exited a parking lot and entered the roadway. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene before police were contacted.

The 29-year-old driver was later arrested without incident at his residence and now faces charges of Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Cause Bodily Harm and Fail to Stop at the Scene of an Accident.

He was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Counter Exploitation investigation leads to arrest for luring and sexual assault of youth: C26-159442

A 41-year-old man is facing multiple charges following a Counter Exploitation Unit (CEU) investigation into the online luring and sexual assault of a youth.

In July 2026, the Winnipeg Police Service CEU entered into an investigation after receiving a report that a youth had been sexually assaulted by an adult male.

Investigators learned that between June 20 and July 10, 2026, the man communicated with the youth online and arranged to meet with them in person on several occasions. During those meetings, the youth was provided with gifts and alcohol and was sexually assaulted.

On July 16, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., investigators attended a residence in Headingley, Manitoba, where David Wayne THORNSON (41) was taken into custody.

THORNSON has been charged with:

• Sexual Assault
• Sexual Interference
• Obtaining Sexual Services from a Person Under 18 Years of Age
• Luring a Person Under 16 Years of Age by Means of Telecommunication

THORNSON was released on a Crown consent court order prohibiting contact with individuals under 18, as mandated by Sec 161 of the Criminal Code.

Arrest made in homicide investigation: C23-250307

Update:

The Homicide Unit continued to investigate the October 14, 2023, murder of 24-year-old Joseph Robert CAMPBELL and a suspect was identified.

On August 11, 2026, just before 9:30 a.m., the Homicide Unit located and arrested the suspect in the area of Kennedy Street and St. Mary Avenue.

Skylar Rain GAMBLIN, (21) has been charged with Second Degree Murder and was detained in custody.

Further investigation will continue by the Homicide unit.

As previously released:

On October 14, 2023, at approximately 11:20 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a male down on a sidewalk in the 300 block of Keenleyside Street.

East District General Patrol officers located an adult male with serious injuries. He was transported to hospital and later pronounced deceased. The male has been identified as Joseph Robert CAMPBELL, 24, of Winnipeg.

The Homicide Unit has assumed the investigation.
