Winnipeg Spanish Group Hola, We are a group of kids & adults in Winnipeg that gets together each Friday morning 9:30am-12:3 All Spanish Language levels are welcome!!

The Winnipeg Spanish Group is a volunteer run weekly program designed for those interested in exposing themselves and/or their children to the Spanish Language while having fun. The program has access to a large gym for running and playing as well as a smaller “Learning” space for crafts, Spanish songs/rhymes, stories and music. Adults without children are also welcome! SPanish Group Canceled this week!!

HI all. Hope your having a great week so far.

Unfortunately I just received a notice from the Glenwood Community Center indicating that they needed to CANCEL our group for this Frida only!! .

THey will be using the gym for some kind of community event.

So we will resume with regular scheduled activities on Friday March 20th Which include another Lesson from Maestra Isabel!! See you then!!

"Class Day" 4 of 6 Friday March 27 -Maestra Isabel is back again Maestra Isabel will return with more great teachings and continue to enforce the Spanish Language with our children.
Friday April 3 - Spring Break day! KIds of all ages are welcome to attend and enjoy the large gym space. Large motor skills games like basketball, soccer, or hockey usually take place on these day! A great day to play sme team sports!
Friday April 10- Group BodyTalk Session - BodyTalk re-establishes communication throughout the whole bodymind complex to move us toward optimal health, as well as balancing us to our relationships and environmental surroundings. If you would like to be more in tune with your body and experience more balance in your life and relationships, join us for this group session led by Helena Morales.
Friday April 17 - Vision board day. On this day we ask parents to bring in old magazines that they no longer use. We will be doing a vision board activity, that will help us tap into our creative self, do some self- reflection and create. Vision boards are tools that are great for sorting, envisioning and developing goals, wishes and dreams that we wish to implement into our life journey. Its a fun activity that anyone can do with a few simple prompting statements. Kids are welcome and encouraged to create thier own vision board too if they like. Please bring magazines (or other things you think might be good to add ie pompoms, stickers, beads, yarn etc.) scissors, and gluesticks. Looking forward to this day!!
"Class Day" 5 of 6 Friday April 24 - Maestra Isabel is back again Maestra Isabel back again with a new lesson and some new activities to help the children learn Spanish!

"Class Day" 6 of 6 Friday May 1 - Maestra Isabel is back again This will be the last of the 6 day pass. Based on attendance and #'s we will as a group, decide if we shall continue having Maestra Isabel and her Spanish Classes (or the entire Spanish Group itself). Hopefully attendance will be great and Maestra Isabel will return for another session!

Hi there all!!! I am looking forward to seeing you this week. Maestra Isabel will be back with her amazing lessons this week. So exciting!
I do have a small change to the schedule for you all. Please note that the activities March 13 and April 10 have been swapped.
The NEW schedule will have March 13 as Mindfulness and Meditation day and April 10 as the Group Body Talk session. Hope you all can attend both regardless!

Y ahora en espanol.
Hola familias, ¡Espero que todo esté bien y que estén disfrutando del sol! ¡La primavera llegará antes de que nos demos cuenta!
El siguiente correo electrónico tendrá el calendario para las próximas semanas en el grupo de espanol, información sobre un poquito de apoyo monetario para las próximas clases de Maestra Isabel, así como información sobre la sostenibilidad del Grupo español y las necesidades del grupo para continuar con el grupo de espanol. Les pido que porfavor lean bien este post.
Aquí está el horario para el grupo de español nos reunimos los viernes de 9: 30-12: 30 en Glenwood Community Center 27 Overton. (¡Pro favor, Guarden sus revistas para una actividad divertida en abril!)
Se nos ocurrió una tarifa nominal para las clases de Maestra Isabel. Creemos que, después de tantos años de voluntariado sus talentos, compra de materiales y de haber sido una voluntaria tan dedicada a este grupo de español durante muchos años, el compromiso de Maestra Isabel merece ser reconocido. Esperamos que las familias estén de acuerdo con nosotros y estén dispuestos y abiertas a compensar a la Maestra Isabel y ofreciéndole un pequeño gesto monetario por todo el trabajo que se dedica a las clases que ofrece. Investigamos un poco y decidimos en ofrecer 2 opciones diferentes que probablemente funcionen.

Opción 1. Comprar un pase familiar de 6 sesiones por $ 54
Esto significa que todos los niños dentro de esa familia estarían cubiertos. Los pases no serían transferibles y los días perdidos por las familias no serían compensados.
Opción 2. Pase de un día (tipo Drop-in) de $ 12 por familia en los días que Maestra Isabel ha indicado como "Día de clase".

También hemos agregado otras actividades divertidas y GRATUITAS para los días en que Maestra no está disponible. Esto es para tratar de mantener a las familias comprometidas y sentir que están obteniendo algo del grupo de español. TODAS las actividades y los días se concentrará más en el idioma español y todos haremos un mayor esfuerzo para participar y compartir el idioma español mientras estamos en grupo. Esperamos que esto genere más interés y atraiga a más familias al grupo.

"Día de clase" 1 de 6 Viernes 28 de febrero - Maestra Isabel continuará con sus increíbles clases de español. Se les pide a las familias que traigan con ellos en este día, la tarifa de la opción 1 o la opción 2 como se indica en este post, para pagar y apoyar la compra de materiales, tiempo y compromiso de Isabel.

"Día de clase" 2 de 6 Viernes 6 de marzo - Maestra Isabel - Otro día divertido de clase de español. Asegúrese de llegar a tiempo para acomodarse antes de que comience la clase.

Viernes 13 de marzo - Dia de la atención plena y la meditación. Este día tendremos una mini sesión de mindfulness y meditación. Los participantes aprenderán algunas técnicas simples de atención plena, que podrían ser útiles para asentarnos, vivir más presentemente, así como También para calmar ansiedad, estrés y trastornos de pánico. Proporcionaré algunos recursos y algunos llevarán a casa hojas para que las personas practiquen en casa. También traeré algunas herramientas y recursos de atención plena que son fantásticos para que los niños también aprendan la práctica de la meditación. Traiga ropa cómoda, colchonetas de yoga y / o almohadas o algo para taparse y que esten comodos.

Viernes 3 de abril - ¡Día de vacaciones de primavera! Niños de todas las edades son bienvenidos para asistir y disfrutar del amplio gimnasio. ¡Los grandes juegos de habilidades motoras como el Basketball, el fútbol o el hockey generalmente tienen lugar en estos días! ¡Un gran día para practicar deportes de equipo!

Viernes 10 de abril: Sesión grupal BodyTalk - BodyTalk restablece la comunicación en todo el complejo bodymind para llevarnos hacia una salud óptima, así como para equilibrarnos con nuestras relaciones y entorno ambiental. Si desea estar más en sintonía con su cuerpo y experimentar un mayor equilibrio en su vida y sus relaciones, únase a nosotros en esta sesión grupal dirigida por Helena Morales.

Viernes 17 de abril - Día de la junta de visión. En este día pedimos a los padres que traigan revistas viejas que ya no usan. Haremos una actividad de tablero de visión, que nos ayudará a aprovechar nuestro ser creativo, reflexionar un poco y crear. Los paneles de visión son herramientas que son excelentes para clasificar, visualizar y desarrollar metas, deseos y sueños que deseamos implementar en nuestro viaje de la vida. Es una actividad divertida que cualquiera puede hacer con unas pocas instrucciones simples. Los niños son bienvenidos y animados a crear su propio tablero de visión si así lo desean. Por favor traiga revistas (u otras cosas que cree que pueden ser buenas para agregar, por ejemplo, pompones, pegatinas, brillos, hilo, etc.), tijeras y pegamento. ¡Espero que lleguen muchos a participar este día!

"Día de clase" 5 de 6 Viernes 24 de abril - Maestra Isabel regresa nuevamente con una nueva lección y algunas actividades nuevas para ayudar a los niños a aprender y practicar el español.

"Día de clase" 6 de 6 Viernes 1 de mayo - Maestra Isabel dará otra fabulosa clase. Este será el último del pase de 6 días. Según la asistencia y los números del grupo, decidiremos si seguiremos teniendo Maestra Isabel y sus clases de español y si continuara el Grupo de espanol. ¡Espero que la asistencia sea excelente y que Maestra Isabel pueda regresar para otra sesión!

Hemos creado este calendario para las próximas semanas con la esperanza de que las familias sientan que sacan algo del grupo de español cada semana. Todas las actividades serán en español y pide a las familias a practicar y participar en el idioma español durante cada actividad de los viernes, y así también mientras están en casa.
¡Esfuércense por mantener fuerte el idioma español en Winnipeg! Espero que todos puedan llegar al Grupo de espanol esta semana, espero con ansias todas las excelentes actividades que hemos planeado para los próximos meses.

Hi families,
Hope all is well and you are enjoying the sunshine! Spring will be here before we know it!!

The following is bit of a long post however it will have the schedule for the next several weeks at group, information re: financial compensation for Maestra Isabel's upcoming classes as well as some information regarding Spanish Group's sustainability and the groups needs in order to continue past June of this year. I ask that you please read through this carefully. ;)

Spanish Group meets each Friday from 9:30-12:30 at Glenwood Community Center 27 Overton.

We have come up with a nominal fee for Maestra Isabel's classes. We believe that given the many years of volunteering her talents, Purchasing of materials and supplies (out of her own pocket) and having been a very dedicated supporter of this Spanish group for years, Maestra Isabel's commitment deserves to be acknowledged. We hope that families will agree with us and be willing and open to compensating Maestra Isabel by offering her a small monetary gesture of gratitude for all the work that goes into the classes that she offers.
We did some research and have concluded that offering 2 different types of fees/passes would probably work the best.
Option 1. Purchasing a 6 session family pass for $54
This would mean that all children within that family would be covered. Passes would not be transferable and missed days by families would not be compensated.
Option 2. Single Day pass (Drop-in fee of sorts) of $12 per family on days that Maestra Isabel has indicated as a "Class day".

We have also added some other fun and FREE activities for the days Maestra isn't available. This is to try and keep families engaged and feel like they are gaining something from attending Spanish group. ALL activities and days will have a stronger focus on the Spanish Language and we will all be making greater efforts to engage and share the Spanish language while at group. We hope this will generate more interest and engage more families.

"Class Day" 1 of 6 Friday February 28 - Maestra Isabel is back again She will be continuing her exciting and high energy Spanish classes. Families are asked to bring with them on this day, the fee of either option 1 or option 2 as indicated in this post, to pay for and support Isabel's purchasing of materials, time and commitment.

"Class Day" 2 of 6 Friday March 6 - Maestra Isabel is back again
Another fun day of Spanish Class. BE sure to arrive on time to get settled before class begins.

Friday March 13 - Mindfulness and Meditation day. This day we will have a mini mindfulness and meditation session. Participants will learn some simple mindfulness techniques, that might be helpful for grounding ourselves, living more presently as well as with anxiety, stress, and panic disorders. I will provide some resources and some take home sheets for individuals to practice at home. I will also bring along some mindfulness tools and resources that are fantastic for kids to also learn the practice of meditation. Please bring comfortable clothes, yoga mats and/or pillow or blankets.

Hi there Spanish groupers, This week at Spanish Group we will be having a communal salsa making and sharing lesson.

Please bring your best knives, cutting boards and salsa ingredients to share in the teachings.
For those that don't have any salsa making recipes or experience, that is fine just come on down and enjoy in the learning experience.
