Deadline reminder! The Manitoba Solutions Grant deadline is next week. Expressions of interest for the 2026-27 intake, which is allocated for projects in Climate Adaptation and Community Protection, are due next Tuesday, September 8 by 4:00 p.m.

The Manitoba Solutions Grant is a strategic research funding initiative led by Research Manitoba to address Manitoba’s most pressing challenges through interdisciplinary, collaborative research. Projects must be co-developed with knowledge users, such as industry, nonprofits, or community-based organizations who play a direct role in shaping the research and applying its outcomes.

Last week, Research Manitoba staff got an inside look at the Interdisciplinary Health and Community Services Simulation Centre at RRC Polytech.

This state-of-the-art facility brings real-world learning to life for students in nursing, allied health and community services. Designed with Indigenous teachings and practices woven throughout the space, the Centre supports interdisciplinary training across 13 programs, helping students build the skills and confidence they need to work together in real-world settings.

Research Manitoba is proud to support the appointment of Dr. Shelley Zieroth as the Heart & Stroke, St. Boniface Hospital Foundation and Research Manitoba Chair in Women’s Clinical Heart Health Research.

Women have historically been underrepresented in cardiovascular research, despite heart disease remaining one of the leading causes of death among women.

Dr. Zieroth’s leadership will help strengthen research focused on women’s cardiovascular health, advance discoveries and support better heart health outcomes for women in Manitoba and beyond. This investment is about more than research — it’s about building a healthier future for women.
