As we celebrate our coaches, we want to take a moment to say a huge THANK YOU to all of our coaches—past, present, and up-and-coming!

Coaching is hard work. It takes time, dedication, patience, and a commitment to constantly learning and improving. Our coaches give their time and knowledge to help athletes become better players, but more importantly, they help people discover the joy of racquetball.

Whether you're introducing a junior to the sport for the very first time, helping an adult athlete develop their skills, or supporting a high-performance athlete as they chase their goals, your impact reaches far beyond the court.

Every lesson, every practice, every encouraging word, and every hour spent helping an athlete adds to the growth of racquetball in Manitoba.

To those who have coached for decades, those who are coaching today, and those just beginning their coaching journey:

Thank you for sharing your passion.
Thank you for investing in our athletes.
Thank you for continuing to learn.
And thank you for helping grow the sport we love.

We are incredibly grateful for each and every one of you and the role you play in our racquetball community.

THANK YOU, COACHES!

Today, we want to recognize and celebrate Coach Kurtis and the incredible impact he continues to have on racquetball in Manitoba and across Canada!

Coach Kurtis knows what it takes to compete on the national and international stage. As a member of Team Canada from 2022–2025, he gained valuable experience at the highest levels of the sport—and he brings that knowledge and experience directly to his athletes.

Since 2018, Kurtis has served as Head Coach of the Brandon Racquetball Association, helping build and grow programs while developing athletes of all levels. After retiring from professional competition in 2025, he transitioned into a newchapter as one of Team Canada’s Elite Coaches.

His contributions to racquetball extend well beyond the court. From 2019–2024, Kurtis worked with Racquetball Canada as the Community Programming Coordinator, travelling across the country to lead initiatives focused on growing and strengthening grassroots racquetball. During that time, he helped develop programs such as the Badge Program and Inflatable Court Program, as well as contributing to the development of workshops for the NCCP Community Coach, Badge Program, and Multi-Bounce.

His dedication and contributions have not gone unnoticed. In 2023, Kurtis was honoured with the Sport Manitoba Vince Leah Memorial Award for Fundamentals, and in 2026, he received the Ivan Velan Award from Racquetball Canada for his contributions to the sport.

Perhaps one of the greatest measures of his impact is the success of his athletes. Four of his athletes have reached the international stage, and both his programs and athletes continue to grow and develop.

Kurtis is helping shape the next generation of racquetball players while also strengthening the coaches, programs, and communities around them.

Thank you, Coach Kurtis, for your passion, leadership, and continued commitment to growing racquetball! We appreciate everything you do for our athletes and our sport.

Today, we want to recognize and celebrate Coach Cher for more than 20 years of dedication to coaching and growing racquetball in Manitoba!

Cher’s coaching journey began at the East Kildonan YMCA, and over the years she has coached in many different capacities with Racquetball Manitoba. Today, she coaches out of the University of Winnipeg, working with athletes across a wide range of programs—from our Intro Juniors all the way to Winnipeg’s High Performance Juniors.

Cher has a particular passion for strength and conditioning, and she has made it an important part of her coaching, bringing that knowledge and expertise to her High Performance athletes to help them become stronger, fitter, and better prepared to compete.

Her commitment to learning doesn't stop there. Cher continues to advance her coaching education, with the goal of one day becoming a National Coach. Her dedication to continually improving her own skills allows her to bring even more knowledge and value to the athletes she works with.

Cher’s contributions extend well beyond the court. In 2025, she took on the role of Programming Coordinator for Racquetball Manitoba, organizing and overseeing programs and tournaments across the province. Her work behind the scenes helps keep our programs running and provides opportunities for athletes across Manitoba to learn, compete, and grow.

After more than two decades of coaching, Cher continues to give back to the sport she loves—helping athletes discover their potential while working toward her own goals as a coach.

Thank you, Coach Cher, for your incredible dedication, passion, and commitment to our athletes and to Racquetball Manitoba. We appreciate everything you do!

Today, we want to recognize Coach Kaitlyn for her dedication, passion, and commitment to developing the next generation of racquetball players!

Kaitlyn has been coaching with the Brandon Racquetball Association for three years, bringing her own high-performance experience and competitive knowledge to every lesson.

Her journey as an athlete has given her a wealth of experience to share. She has represented Team Manitoba at Junior Nationals four times, and in 2024, she reached the international stage for the first time, competing at the Junior World Championships.

And her competitive success continues! At this year’s Nationals, Kaitlyn earned her place on two National Teams, another incredible accomplishment that reflects her hard work, determination, and commitment to the sport.

That same drive and dedication is something she passes along to her athletes. Kaitlyn understands the challenges and rewards of high-performance competition and uses her experiences to help her athletes grow, build confidence, and pursue their own goals.

For Kaitlyn, coaching isn't just about sharing her passion with others—it’s also an opportunity to continue learning, developing, and improving her own game. She understands that being a great coach means always being willing to learn and grow alongside your athletes.

Thank you, Coach Kaitlyn, for sharing your passion, experience, and competitive spirit with your athletes. Your dedication is helping shape the future of racquetball in Manitoba!

Today, we want to recognize Coach Aidan for his dedication to our junior athletes and his passion for growing the sport of racquetball in Manitoba!

Aidan began coaching with Racquetball Manitoba in 2024, and since then, he has played an instrumental role in reinvigorating the junior program at the University of Manitoba. Under his guidance, the program continues to grow, giving more young athletes the opportunity to discover racquetball, develop their skills, and build a love for the sport.

This year, Aidan is taking that passion and experience to Steinbach, where he will be starting up a new junior program! We're excited to see him bring the same energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to a new group of young athletes and help introduce even more kids to the sport we love.

Growing junior racquetball takes passionate coaches who are willing to invest their time and energy into the next generation—and Aidan is doing exactly that.

Thank you, Coach Aidan, for everything you do for our junior athletes and for helping grow racquetball across Manitoba. We can't wait to see what the future holds!

For more than five years, Leyton has been coaching with the Brandon Racquetball Association, working under the guidance of Head Coach Kurtis. During that time, he has loved watching his athletes grow and succeed, from the provincial level all the way to the national stage.

His dedication was especially evident at this past National Championships. While still competing himself, Leyton made time to assist with coaching and supporting his athletes throughout the event. And he certainly had a successful Nationals of his own—earning spots on two National Teams!

Balancing his own competitive goals while continuing to support and develop his athletes is a true testament to Leyton’s commitment, dedication, and love for the sport.
