Every year at Nationals, hands out Provincial awards. These are given to a member of the province who has done exceptional work supporting racquetball. This year, the award for Manitoba was given to Lory Saban.

Lory has been an integral part of Brandon's racquetball program and was on the Brandon Racquetball board of directors. He has always made sure tournaments run smoothly, always willing to lend a helping hand, and promoted the sport every chance he got. We're sure his involvement won't change too much as he goes into "retirement" as he loves the sport too much. We appreciate everything you've done.

Congratulations Lory! πŸ†πŸŽ‰

The Sherman Greenfeld Award is awarded each year at Junior Nationals to a male athlete that has shown excellence on and off the court. This year Brandon's Leyton Gouldie was the recipient.

Leyton has achieved podium success 10 times at National Championships and made the Junior National team four times. He is also a member of Racquetball Canada's Elite team.

He is a junior coach in Brandon, helping bring the younger ones into their elite program. At this year's Nationals he stepped up and helped coach Team β€˜Toba when we were short handed.

Congratulation Leyton! πŸ†πŸŽ‰

The Heather Stupp Award is awarded every year at Junior Nationals to a female athlete who has shown excellence on and off the court. This year it was awarded to Brandon's Kaitlyn Couckuyt.

Kaitlyn trains with Kurtis in Brandon. She has made the Junior National team for the past three years and has made the National Development team. She also helps coach the women's program in Brandon. All of these accomplishments while still being a competitive volleyball player.

The Ivan Velan Award is to recognize members of Racquetball Canada, past and present, for their contributions to our sport. This year, our very own .cullen, won the award in the Builder Category.

Kurtis has built up the Brandon Junior Racquetball program to over 60 athletes. He's travelled across Canada mentoring program coordinators and coaches to help create new programs and improve on current ones. He's sat on the board of the Brandon Racquetball Association and Racquetball Manitoba. He worked for Racquetball Canada as the Community Coordinator, creating the Badge Program and promoting our Inflatable Court program. All while being an elite athlete and being on Team Canada.

Manitoba couldn't be prouder to have him in our province and sharing his love of the sport with so many people. Congratulations Kurtis and thank you for all you've done.

Another Nationals is over and our athletes are making their ways home. We are so proud of all them and what they've accomplished this week. Our junior team did exceptionally well, with 3 of them making the National team.

Thank you to the coaches and our senior juniors for stepping up to fill the gaps when needed. Your hard work didn't go unnoticed.

Shout out to the parents who endured long days at the courts and who supported their kids through the highs and lows of the competition.

Manitoba's junior program has a bright future and we can't wait to see what happens next year. Till then, they'll get some well deserved R&R. Congratulations.
