Gotta say, we're pretty proud of and excited for this guy! Congrats to our very own Evan Yaworski on this incredible achievement!
Incredible Canadian achievement! Evan Yaworski, a firefighter with the Royal Canadian Air Force based in Winnipeg and originally from Saskatoon, has become the first Canadian in history to be crowned the World's Strongest Firefighter!
Competing against more than 150 athletes from around the world at The Arnold sports event in Ohio, Yaworski — classified as a lightweight — used a pound-for-pound scoring system to outlift all competitors across events like tire flips and fire truck pulls. The competition was founded by Arnold Schwarzenegger to honour first responders and has raised half a million dollars for firefighter charities. Yaworski self-coached himself throughout the entire training process. What an incredible Canadian! 💪🇨🇦
