Today, members of the Woodstock Police Service joined police services from across Ontario at the Ontario Police Su***de Memorial Ceremony.

Together, we honoured and remembered police members lost to su***de and reflected on their service. We stood alongside the families, friends and colleagues who continue to carry their memories.

Today’s ceremony was a reminder of the importance of supporting the mental health and well-being of those who serve.
We will never forget them.

Four Drivers Charged in Four Days for Impaired Driving

Over a four-day period, Woodstock Police charged four individuals in separate impaired driving investigations, highlighting the ongoing dangers impaired driving poses to our community.

πŸ”Ή May 28: A report of a suspected impaired driver led to the arrest of a 22-year-old Woodstock man, who was charged with:
β€’ Operation While Impaired – Alcohol
β€’ Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80 mg
β€’ Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with an Unsealed Container of Liquor
β€’ Having Care or Control of a Vehicle with Cannabis in Open Baggage

πŸ”Ή May 30 (Morning): Officers located a driver asleep behind the wheel of a running vehicle. A 65-year-old Woodstock man was charged with:
β€’ Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
β€’ Possession of a Schedule I Substance

πŸ”Ή May 30 (Evening): Following a report of a possible impaired driver and a roadside screening device fail, a 37-year-old Tillsonburg woman was charged with:
β€’ Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
β€’ Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80 mg

πŸ”Ή May 31: An off-duty Woodstock Police Service officer observed a motorcyclist repeatedly losing control and falling from their motorcycle in the Roth Park area. A 37-year-old man was charged with:
β€’ Operation While Impaired
β€’ Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80 mg
Breath testing revealed the accused's blood alcohol concentration was more than three times the legal limit.

In each case, driver's licences were suspended, and vehicles were impounded under Ontario's Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS) program and applicable provincial legislation.

Impaired driving remains a significant threat to public safety. Whether impairment is caused by alcohol, drugs, or a combination of both, getting behind the wheel puts lives at risk.

We thank the community members who reported suspected impaired drivers and helped keep our roads safe.

Last week, members of the Woodstock Police Service were proud to attend the 2026 Special Olympics Ontario School Championships at Western University, where they had the honour of presenting awards to participating athletes.

The partnership between law enforcement and Special Olympics is unlike any other in the world. Ontario is the only Special Olympics program globally where police services have hosted the Games every year since 1996. As the official charity of choice of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police, Special Olympics continues to bring together athletes, police officers, and communities through a shared commitment to inclusion, respect, and opportunity.
