Due to unforeseen circumstances, Southside Aquatic Centre will remain closed on Monday, Aug. 31 and Tuesday, Sept. 1. The contractor needs more time to complete the maintenance before the pool can reopen.

The pool is expected to be open for drop-in swimming on Wednesday, but we will provide an update if there are any further changes.

The fall session of swimming lessons and programs is not affected by the closure and will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Tips and tricks for your organics bin:

Line your bins 🛍️ — Use certified compostable or paper bags to keep things clean. Newspaper works too. Avoid plastic liners.

Freeze scraps ❄️ — Wrap meat and fish in paper and freeze until collection day to cut down on odours.

Layer waste 📚 — Alternate food scraps with soiled cardboard or newspaper to absorb liquids.

Rinse often 🧼 — Wash your bins regularly with water and vinegar.

Reduce smells 🍋 — Add baking soda, citrus peels, or coffee grounds to help manage odours.
