Three weeks ago, we partnered with the Multicultural Association of Carleton County and Woodstock First Nation Health Centre to host Woodstock's first multicultural festival! We were very fortunate to have volunteer support from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Carleton-York, Valley Family Resource Centre, and Woodstock Warriors Hockey Club as well.

We want to send a heartfelt thank you to the Rotary Club of Woodstock and Woodstock, NB for their financial contributions to the event.

We also want to acknowledge the businesses that helped make the day a success:

Corno's Septic Service for portable toilets and hand-washing stations

This month, we're taking a look at The Woodstock Planet Youth survey data about youth experiences at school.

School is one of the major domains of Planet Youth because it was identified as one of the places where youth spend most of their time. Feeling connected, supported, and engaged at school is a key part of overall wellness and helps protect against risks. The data shows how youth feel about their relationships with teachers and peers, their sense of belonging, and how safe they feel at school.

When school environments are welcoming and inclusive, youth are more likely to thrive.

Goals for Tomorrow: A Canadian Showcase of Youth Innovation

We’re inviting youth ages 15–24 to express their interest in presenting at Goals for Tomorrow: A Canadian Showcase of Youth Innovation, a national youth-led virtual festival taking place October 17, 2026.

In partnership with the Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC) and the Students Commission of Canada (SCC), the festival brings together youth from across Canada to explore global citizenship, international development, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

We’re looking for youth who are leading SDG-related projects, creating change in their communities, sharing innovative ideas, or exploring sustainable development. Presenters may participate through TED-style talks, workshops, panels, creative showcases, multimedia storytelling, or community project presentations.

It’s an opportunity to share your ideas with a national audience, connect with other youth, and inspire action on issues that matter to you.

The VFRC Family Picnic has officially been moved indoors!! Tomorrow from 10am-1pm!

Important Update: Our Family Picnic is Moving Indoors!

Rain won’t stop the fun! Due to the weather forecast, tomorrow’s Family Picnic will now take place at the Woodstock Wesleyan Church.

We’ve got a great day planned for children ages 0–6, with bouncy castles, face painting, balloon animals, crafts, games, and more!

What to bring: Bring your own lunch and a blanket for our indoor picnic. We’ll have fun treats waiting for everyone!
