Age-Friendly Sarnia-Lambton

Age-Friendly Sarnia-Lambton Healthy aging and best practices for community supports and services is our focus. What is the Age-Friendly Sarnia-Lambton Project? It does!

Age-Friendly Sarnia-Lambton is a collaborative community development initiative that pro-actively builds a community where we can live, work, and play at any age! The World Health Organization’s(WHO) Age-Friendly Communities model from the “Global Age-Friendly Cities: A Guide" was adopted to help build an Age-Friendly Sarnia-Lambton. The A.F.S.S.C will ensure Sarnia-Lambton becomes an Age-Friendly

community that is an inclusive and accessible environment that promotes policies, services, settings, and structures that support and enable people to age actively. Explore the WHO Age-Friendly Guide for more information on the initiative:

Does Age-Friendly refer to all ages? The World Health Organization’s Age-Friendly Community Initiative, refers to Age-Friendly as “Accommodating for All”. Age-Friendly Initiatives may include, yet not be limited to;

Creating barrier-free buildings and streets to enhance the mobility and independence of people with disabilities, young and old. Ensuring families experience less stress when they have community support and health services they need. Promoting to the whole community the benefits from the participation of all citizens, both young and old, in volunteer or paid work.
