🧵 Mend It, Don’t End It! 🪡

A big thank you to everyone who joined us last night for our beginner sewing workshop during Waste Reduction Week Canada!

We had some great conversations about reducing textile waste, giving clothing a new lease on life with simple fixes like replacing buttons and adding patches, and what happens to textiles after they’re donated.

A special thank you to Carol and Barbara from Patchwork Pals for sharing their knowledge and helping participants build their sewing skills! ❤️

Small repairs can make a big difference in keeping clothing in use and out of the landfill. Thanks for spending the evening with us and learning how we can all put waste in its place!

FREE beginner sewing workshop. No sewing experience required!

♻️Next week is Waste Reduction Week! What better way to celebrate than to learn how to extend the life of your clothing? Have you registered? Space is limited to 20 participants. Pre-registration is required.

♻We ask that you first try to donate any gently used toys to a local charity.

🆓There are also many pages where you can post items "to give away FREE".

➡️️If all else fails, they can go in your regular garbage (clear bag). This includes plastic toys. Please remove any batteries they may contain. To find a drop-off location for the batteries, please visit https://recycleyourbatteries.ca/

👉 Do you have an item that you're not sure where it goes? Maybe others don't know either.

Circular Economy Month is in full swing! Every time you put an item in your blue bag or return your bottles to a Depot, you are contributing to a circular economy. This keeps materials out of landfills and creates new products! ♻

Waste Check was at Digby Neck Consolidated School yesterday! 🌱🪱

We spent the morning with Ms. Carman’s Grade 3–6 class exploring compost worms, vermicomposting, and the important role healthy soils play in our environment.

It was a hands-on day of getting our hands dirty, meeting some very wiggly helpers, and learning how food scraps can become something valuable for our soil. 🌎
