Tips for packing a waste-free lunch:
👉Use reusable containers, cutlery, and water bottles. Avoid single-use packaged items.
🌎Buy snacks in bulk. Buying in bulk saves money, reduces waste, and helps the environment.

♻ These pouches are usually a combination of materials: paper/plastic or paper/foil.
You can now recycle these with the "flexible plastics" at the Depot. To find a drop-off depot near you, please visit: https://www.circularmaterials.ca/nsdepots/

➡If you are unable to take them to the Depot for recycling, please continue to put them in your garbage (clear bag).

A huge thanks to Matthew for choosing to spend your summer with us!

A special thanks also goes out to both Clean Foundation and Divert NS for funding the position.

Meet Clean Leader Matthew Ring (he/him), who is spending the summer with Waste Check as a Waste Reduction Outreach Co-ordinator.

Through his Divert NS-funded internship, Matthew has supported curbside monitoring, resident education, transfer station inspections and community outreach initiatives that help residents across Yarmouth and Digby counties improve waste sorting and recycling practices.

Matthew's favourite part of the role has been seeing the direct impact waste reduction and diversion efforts can have in local communities while connecting his chemical engineering studies to real-world environmental challenges.
