The Third Man is a favourite of many famous film connoisseurs.

Roger Ebert, famed film critic, cited it as his favourite film, eventually listing it in "The Ten Greatest Films of All Time"

Akira Kurosawa has identified it as his favourite film.

Martin Scorsese wrote a thesis on The Third Man while in film school. He earned a B+, with his tutor remarking "Forget it, it's just a thriller."

After his experience completing Days of Heaven, Terrence Malick moved to Paris and didn’t make another film for 20 years.

During his 20 year absence from Hollywood, rumours circulated that he was teaching philosophy at the Sorbonne, that he was living in his mother's garage, and that he was a hairdresser.

Yellowknife Film Club did not find proof of any of those rumours being true. But we also didn't look very hard.

Join us on Monday, February 16th to experience the film that made a man need a 20 year break from Hollywood.
