🎨 A special visit connecting art, family and northern history

The Legislative Assembly recently welcomed John Bennett, whose father helped arrange Group of Seven artist A.Y. Jackson’s painting trips to the Northwest Territories during the 1940s and 1950s.

John is now working to trace and document the paintings Jackson created during those northern journeys. During his visit, he had the opportunity to view the Assembly’s collection of 10 A.Y. Jackson paintings and learn more about how they are cared for and shared today.

Thank you to John and those accompanying him for visiting and sharing this remarkable connection to the North’s artistic history.
