Today, on Thanksgiving, and every day, we're grateful for the people who help keep our communities safe and healthy. To our whole team, thank you for the care, compassion, and dedication you bring to those we serve.

Congratulations to our 9 new Mobile Integrated Health graduates joining Medavie Health Services West. Among the group, we welcome 3 new RN's to the Emergency Communication Nurse System, 3 Community Paramedics to Saskatoon, 2 Community Paramedics in Moose Jaw, and 1 Community Paramedic in Wadena.

To celebrate their graduation and officially welcome them to the Mobile Integrated Health team, we hosted a Bricks Matter session on Friday. During the session, we spoke about Medavie's core values of being caring, accountable, responsive, innovative, and community minded. We reflected on which values we resonated with most, both personally and professionally, and brought those reflections to life through creative LEGO builds. These builds led to meaningful conversations, opportunities to get to know one another on a more personal level, and plenty of laughs along the way.

We are so proud of our new graduates and can't wait to see the difference they'll make in the lives of the people they care for.

Today, on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour the children who never returned home from residential schools, the survivors, and their families and communities. We recognize the ongoing impacts of this history on Indigenous Peoples and take time to reflect on the importance of healing, understanding, and reconciliation.

Wearing orange epaulettes during the month of September is one way Medavie Health Services West Crestvue demonstrates our commitment to honouring this reflection and standing in solidarity with Indigenous communities. As healthcare providers, we know that trust, respect, and compassion are at the heart of the care we provide. We are committed to treating every person with dignity, while continuing to learn, listen, and strengthen the relationships that help ensure equitable care for all.

Today and every day, we remain committed to listening, learning, and doing our part to help build a future rooted in understanding and reconciliation.

The classroom portion of onboarding is well under way at MHSW Crestvue!

We have welcomed Allysa P., Lexi J., and Rhett E. to Yorkton! They are now trained on our new Zoll Zeniz cardiac monitors, MDTs, EPCRs and a multitude of other things. They even completed their first lights and sirens drives today!

In the coming weeks they will begin their field mentorship shifts and continue their journey as paramedics.

DJ Brass, Austin Horbachewsky, Owen Roberts and Colin Routsinoja stopped by today to drop off some Yorkton Terriers Junior Hockey Club swag and a flex pack of tickets for our staff. Also pictured is one of our newest hires, Lexi J. who is currently completing her classroom orientation.

The start of a new school year is here, and students across our community are heading back to the classroom, reconnecting with friends, and meeting their teachers.

The return to school means busier roads, school zones, and crosswalks throughout our neighbourhoods.

With that in mind, we want to remind everyone to obey reduced speed limits in school zones, watch for students crossing unexpectedly, and use extra caution around school buses. Parents can help by reminding children to stay back from the curb until the bus has come to a complete stop and to always be aware of their surroundings.

By slowing down and taking a little extra care, we can all help students get to and from school safely.

Ever wonder why an ambulance sometimes has its lights and sirens on, when other times it doesn’t?

Not every ambulance call is the same. Our team assess each situation individually and decide on the safest and most appropriate way to respond. In some cases, lights and sirens may be necessary, when other times, they may not be.

There are many reasons an ambulance might be traveling without lights or sirens, including:

Non-urgent responses: When we’re traveling for non-urgent purposes, such as routine patient transfers or even vehicle maintenance, our ambulances may be operated in the same way as any other vehicle on the road.

Traffic conditions: Depending on traffic, road conditions, and the nature of the call, crews can make the informed choice to travel with the normal flow of traffic.

Every situation is guided by our paramedics training and experience, helping them to choose the safest approach for both patients and others on the road. If you see an emergency vehicle with flashing lights approaching, remember to slow down, move over carefully, and remain stopped until the emergency vehicle(s) has passed.

It's no secret that we are busy, but that just means that we have to take advantage of our down time and have some fun. Two of our crews successfully completed our Scavenger Hunt that was offered this summer, and we wanted to share a few of the photos with you!
NOTE: These tasks were completed on their time off, or between calls (no calls were delayed for this event). Lots of laughs were had and the smiles say it all!

Thanks to the public for the additional laughs as you interacted with our staff and to all of our community partners for allowing our staff onto your property and into your locations so that they could check off a few scavenger hunt boxes! Your taking time out of your day to help them have some fun is so appreciated.
