Great event happening in Arichat on September 19th 1-3 pm, hosted by the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. If you or someone you love lives with vision loss, come have fun with others with similar experiences! Come have some light refreshments, and play some games!

Like hundreds of people across the strait area, we were saddened to hear of Dorothy Bennet's passing. We share our condolences to her family and loved ones. Dorothy has left a lasting mark on our region though her tireless advocacy to end poverty. Dorothy united so many of us across county lines to work toward a better future. She inspired us with her work with the Connecting the Dots Network, that informs much of our efforts to improve health outcomes where we live. She will leave some fond memories behind and some big shoes to fill. Your dreams live on through many of your collaborators, Dorothy💙

From our mushroom foraging workshop on Monday in Lennox Passage! 🍄 🍄‍🟫 What a great time we had! It has been such a good summer for fungi, so we had lots to talk about. Thanks again to Joe Kiceniuk from Isle Madame Garden Club for sharing his expertise with us!

PUBLIC AWARENESS ANNOUNCEMENT:

We were recently notified of a network of scammers that targeted a seniors apartment building.

A resident reported that an individual recently attempted to gain access to her apartment building, indicating that they were associated with the provincial Seniors Care Grant and asking to be buzzed into the building. The resident was suspicious and did not allow the individual entry.

We want the public to be aware that the provincial Seniors Care Grant program will NOT ever send someone to your home to verify information.

If you hear of anyone in your community experiencing something similar, please urge them not to provide access or personal information and to report the incident to police.

Well what a nice surprise to start off the weekend! We found out today that we've won GOLD in the Physicians category of CommunityVotes - Cape Breton ! On top of that, our very own Dr. Jonah Samson was an honorable audience top pick. Thank you so much to everyone who nominated us and voted for us! We love the work we do, but most of all, we love the community we get to serve!
