Official Launch of the Sake–Masisi Road Construction

Today marks a historic milestone for our province. The M23/AFC movement has officially launched the construction of the Sake–Masisi road—an essential step toward transforming North Kivu’s infrastructure and empowering its people.

For decades, our province has been neglected, left without roads, development, or basic services. But those days are ending. Our movement heard the cries of the people, and we responded—not with words, but with action.

After successfully delivering clean water across the city of Goma, surpassing even the current demand, and ensuring 24-hour electricity throughout the city, we now take another bold step. The people have long said that North Kivu has never known development since Congo became a country. Today, M23/AFC is changing that reality—permanently.

This is not just a road. It is the symbol of a new era. A transformation that will touch every liberated area and uplift every citizen. This is the will of the people—and for us, the will of the people is our command.

Today, North Kivu is witnessing a transformation unlike anything seen since the Democratic Republic of Congo came into existence. A new road is under construction, stretching from Sake to Masisi Centre—marking just the beginning of a new era. The people of Masisi, long tormented by impassable roads, will no longer spend days struggling to survive journeys that should take hours.

At the same time, Goma is experiencing a renaissance. Water now flows across the city where, not long ago, people endured weeks—even months—without it. Those once responsible for public services profited from the population’s misery by selling water from tankers. That chapter is closing. Today, water is a right, not a privilege.

Electricity is stable and reliable. Since the departure of the Kinshasa regime, blackouts have become a thing of the past. Cleanliness now defines the city, greeting every visitor with a sense of pride and order that was once unimaginable.

Security has improved drastically. Goma is now 99% safe, even in the face of challenges created by the reckless distribution of weapons and cash by the previous regime. Our security forces have refused to rest—they work tirelessly to safeguard the people. Areas like Ndosho, once gripped by fear and sleepless nights, now stand as symbols of the peace and stability brought by AFC/M23.

Banks are open and functioning, with plans already in motion to extend banking services to rural communities. In the countryside, food is so abundant that the leadership is now focused on opening up larger markets to prevent the surplus from going to waste.

All of this has been achieved in less than three months—through leadership rooted in unity, diversity, equity, inclusion, gender equality, and equal opportunities for all children. Imagine what will be achieved in five years!

The era of poor leadership is fading like smoke. In its place, the people of North Kivu are witnessing real progress, restored dignity, and renewed hope in the liberated areas. What Kinshasa failed to deliver for decades is now being done—with purpose, transparency, and results.

From today and forever, sons and daughters under relentless bombardment have risked their lives to rescue their fellow Congolese, who for weeks have endured relentless air and ground assaults by Kinshasa’s coalition forces. Today marks a historic moment—Walikale will finally know peace, not through foreign intervention, but by Congolese standing together to protect their own. Under the leadership of Gen. "In Dirty Boots," the people of Walikale will sleep in peace tonight.

The finality of loss is something the mind wrestles with, unwilling to fully accept the weight of it. I find myself floating through these days in a haze, almost as if this is all happening around me, not to me. As if I will wake up and he will be there—fixing our backyard, swinging his last grandson on his leg, or painting one of the rooms. Reassuring, offering his support, his presence, as he always did.

But now, with every sunrise that pushes us closer to the burial day, the haze clears, and the reality hardens. This isn't a temporary absence. This is a forever. The surreal moments of disbelief are fading, replaced by a sharp awareness that we will not hear his "CHA MAN" again, his defiant way of facing any challenge, or feel the warmth of his fatherly embrace on the many family trips we took. That love of seeing his vehicle behind ours, changing lanes for us to safely follow. I won’t be able to call him when work gets heavy, as I always did, or witness his love for the family he cherished.

It’s a strange, cruel awakening—the realization that we must learn to live in a world he no longer inhabits. How do we carry on without him, when his presence was so intertwined with our sense of home, of belonging? His absence is already a void, but it’s a void we are only beginning to feel, as the days stretch forward without him. A heavy, daunting new norm.

These days of mourning are here and will go, and the world will move on as it does, indifferent to our grief. But for us, the days will be a little dimmer, the joy a little quieter, and the weight of his absence will settle into the corners of our lives. We will move forward, as people do, but we will do so with a piece of ourselves missing, a hole that time may soften but never truly fill.

This is the hard new reality. A life without Daddy. Without Grandpa. And as the final farewell draws near, it presses in on us—slowly, unrelentingly—that this is not a dream we can wake from.
