Today the Chair of Kenya Covid Fund led the Board and Medical Practitioners in delivering PPEs to Mathare National Hospital.

She talked about the work that is being done by the Fund on Two priority areas: Welfare and Health.

She also emphasized on the transparency of the Fund's expenditure as can be seen on the Website. And the fact that the Fund's Board and all those involved run its coordination and ex*****on at Zero administrative costs.

Accompanying her were members of the Kenya Covid Fund Board; Dr. James Mwangi, in charge of the health committee, Phyllis Wakiaga in charge of Procurement committee and Narendra Raval (Guru).

Dr. Isaac Macharia Equity group ltd Chair was also present.

The Kenya COVID Fund kicked off the distribution of Personal Protective Equipment at Embakasi, Kamkunji, Dagoretti, Kasarani, Kibra, Langata, Makadara, Mathare, Njiru, Starehe and Westlands. We have distributed 495, 500 masks so far. We are in this together

Recently, members of the Kenya Covid Fund and Equity Group Foundation Led By Dr. James Mwangi, Ms. Phyllis Wakiaga and Dr. Isaac Macharia ( Equity Group Chair) presented PPEs to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital; A designated Isolation Center by the Nairobi Metropolitan Service.

Leading the Nairobi Metropolitan Service in receiving them was DG Major General Mohamed Badi, NMS Director of Health Services Josephine Kibaru Mbae, Nairobi County Chief Health Officer Ouma Oluga and Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital Board Chair, Former Nairobi Mayor Joe Aketch.

Speaking at the event Dr. James Mwangi expressed optimism of continued supply of PPEs to designated Isolation Centers because the collaborative framework of production means that it is the medical fraternity making PPEs for the Medical and frontline workers.

The Kenya COVID Fund today handed over PPEs to the County government of Kiambu for their frontline healthcare workers. The fund donated over 100,000 PPEs full body, masks as well as rubber boots for the first responders dealing with the COVID -19 cases.

Mabati Rolling Mills, PG Bison and the Kiambu County through the Kenya COVID fund will begin fabrications of Hospital beds that will see the increase in County hospital bed capacity which is currently at 525. The partnership will see the county increase their capacity to 1000 bed by the end of two month engagement.

The Kenya COVID-fund Chair Jane Karuku is urging Kenyans as part of the recovery process we need to Buy Kenya so we can start reviving the economy as well as create opportunity for Job creations in the market. She noted that indeed the pandemic has made us take to account the lack of local buy in and the need to change the mentality if we intend to grow our economy.

The Kenya Covid Fund Chair Jane Karuku officiated the flag off ceremony for PPE distribution to 54 identified hospitals across the country, at the Wells Fargo Warehouse on Mombasa Road.

The PPEs were delivered by various identified local Manufacturers who have demonstrated the capacity to produce high quality reliable PPEs for the country going forward.

Ms. Karuku thanked the Fund's Health committee led by Dr. James Mwangi for achieving this milestone, and ensuring that there are county sub-committees comprised of medical practitioners ready to receive the PPE items as they arrive in different destinations.

She also thanked Wells Fargo for their partnership in ensuring safe and speedy delivery of the PPEs to different parts of the country.

This Morning Ms. Phyllis Wakiaga represented the Kenya COVID Fund Board in officiating over the food and sanitary pack donations by Visa Oshwal Community to vulnerable communities in Nairobi impacted by the pandemic. These include Korogocho, Dandora and Mathare.

Present were the Community's Vice Chair, Mr Jinit Shah, Secretary Mrs Bindi R. Shah and MRM. Also present was External Affairs Manager, Jane Ndung'o from MRM. MRM has donated masks to be included in the donated packs.

The Kenya COVID Fund visited Shona EPZ in Athi River, that employs approximately 650 people from the local community. They have qualified to supply surgical gowns to assist frontline workers across the country.

This is because they have incoorporated the required standards and demonstrated the capacity to supply.

Today the committee was in Kitui County with Her Excellency Charity Ngilu, The Governor of Kitui County. She is doing amazing transformative work industrializing kitui county through the Kitui County Textile Center (KICOTEC)

KICOTEC has employed approximately 700 young people from the county. 80% being young women. The Center is a critical part of the Covid response PPEs being procured by the Kenya Covid Fund.

The Kenya Covid Fund Board was represented by KAM CEO . She was accompanied by James Muigai Supply Chain Management Head at Equity Group, and Reuben Mbindu Executive director of Equity Group Foundation.

Jane Karuku Chair Kenya Covid Fund visited Manchester Outfitters Limited this afternoon accompanied by Phyllis Wakiaga who leads procurement for the fund and Dr. Joan Korir who is part of the health committee. The committee was pleased with the quality of the personal protective equipment seen and the capacity of the two companies to produce the same.
