🌍 Swiss diplomacy meets in 🇨🇭

From 17–21 August, ’s ambassadors are gathering for the annual Conference of Swiss Ambassadors, this year under the theme “World disorder: Switzerland in Europe and the world.”

At the heart of the discussions: the package, today’s geopolitical challenges, Switzerland’s room for manoeuvre in a changing international environment, as well as security, economic diplomacy and international cooperation.

The conference will also welcome German Wadephul for an exchange with Federal Councillor and Switzerland’s diplomatic corps on Europe’s role in the world and the challenges our countries face together.

Since 1887, the Ambassadors’ Conference has provided a unique space to exchange perspectives, connect foreign policy with developments at home and help shape Switzerland’s engagement in the world.

🇨🇭 La neutralité suisse a fait ses preuves depuis près de 180 ans.

L’initiative sur la neutralité veut inscrire de nouvelles règles dans la Constitution. Le Conseil fédéral et le Parlement recommandent de la rejeter afin de préserver une neutralité forte, crédible et capable de s’adapter aux circonstances.

Bundesrat und Parlament empfehlen, diese Initiative abzulehnen.

Die Neutralität soll immerwährend sein. Die Schweiz darf keinem Militär- oder Verteidigungsbündnis beitreten.

Auf nichtmilitärische Zwangsmassnahmen verzichten
Vollständig neutral zu sein bedeutet auch, auf wirtschaftliche Zwangsmassnahmen zu verzichten.

Switzerland maintains good bilateral relations in the fields of politics and the economy, cooperation within international financial institutions, and energy policy with Azerbaijan.

In 2001 Switzerland established its Cooperation Office in Baku.

In 2007 Switzerland established its Embassy in Baku.

62 Swiss citizens were living in Azerbaijan in 2025.

Swiss international cooperation activities in Azerbaijan fall under the wider 2026–29 regional cooperation programme for the South Caucasus. The programme aims to foster relations between cross-bordering regions and provide support for related projects.
In Azerbaijan, Switzerland promotes:
a more favourable business environment, including a better investment climate
a modern, transparent financial sector
better public services and governance
the economic empowerment of women
local art and culture
